PartySick 172,608
Happy Men's Day to all the fellas Today (tomorrow if you're in the Americas) is a day to celebrate the dudes, the bros, the dads, the brothers, the sons, the grandpas, uncles, nephews, guys, and fellas International Men's Day objectives are given as: - To promote positive male role models; not just movie stars and sports men but everyday, working-class men who are living decent, honest lives. - To celebrate men's positive contributions to society, community, family, marriage, child care, and the environment. - To focus on men's health and wellbeing: social, emotional, physical, and spiritual. - To highlight discrimination against men in areas of social services, social attitudes and expectations, and law. - To improve gender relations and promote gender equality. - To create a safer, better world, where people can be safe and grow to reach their full potential. Today feels important to me personally for two reasons: First, I very much believe a lot of the problems we're experiencing with recent political events (ahem) can be attributed to many, many men feeling like their problems and feelings don't matter. In the US, you basically have two parties. One is promoting the rights of women (as they should), the other is promoting the worst form of toxic masculinity. There is no home for honest guys so they fall out of touch, become low info voters, and go with the latter for the wrong reasons. With a little TLC and a lot of patience, I think that could change! Second, as a CSA and SA survivor, it seems that every resource I've been able to find is geared towards women. Therapists, counselors, even law enforcement. Male victims of SA or domestic violence are not taken seriously and it can make situations that are already painful feel like it's you against the world. Your struggles do not matter and you must claw yourself out of whatever hole you've fallen into. There's a reason men are five times as likely to commit violent crimes, just as likely as women to be the victim of violent crimes, twice as likely to abuse drugs and alcohol, and four times as likely to take their own lives. Just as women's physical health isn't taken seriously, men's mental health and personal security are scoffed at and considered unimportant. I'm sure most of y'all have a dad, brother, boyfriend, husband, etc that you can thank for being a rock, a teacher, a provider, and/or your friend so take a minute today to thank them for being cool Whimsical bitch

I’m very sorry this has happened to you, I completely understand . I have always been asking myself this question about why people care less about us. Even as a kid I saw how the teachers preferred or highlighted the actions of girls more than the boys. I told myself “I wish I was a girl” , but because I thought being a girl would be easier/ I’d have more help and recognition. But now that I’m older I see that it is men who have more problems (not minimizing women here btw) like the ones you mentioned. They definitely have more of these problems than women. Also found out that most therapy is woman based/ approached so I see why many men are reluctant to join. Personally I feel there’s an agenda to keep men “toxic” or “out of whack” just so the system can continue running the way it is but we do live in a monetary world. It's ironic, I guess, that men basically run the world but at the same time so many men feel forgotten and even bitter 'cause society stigmatizes so many basic human traits we have. It definitely helps to perpetuate the harmful system that hurts both men and women Even I'm guilty of perpetuating that, calling men who have difficulties with social situations and regulating their emotions "incels". If those guys were able to get stigma free help from professionals instead of of mockery and ostracization I have to figure a lot of them would turn themselves around and be better people. Of course, some of them are just straight up narcissists who don't respect other people but hey, behavioral therapy is still preferable to letting them stew on X while worshipping a poster of Elon Musk in a MAGA hat Whimsical bitch
