This artists used to be able to hit 1-3 decently sized eras after the one another. Now 90% of them will flop no matter what. Next year we will see Sabrina or Chappell struggle to reach decent numbers and a new pop star will rise Dua Lipa omg, her fall was way harder and quicker than I expected
MessyTop 14,389
I mean, I’m not a fan of the new album. But maybe after the election , the last thing people want to hear is boring depressing music

I think his fan base have just grown up and moved on. all songs from his last album charted on Global and US Spotify. I think his fans abandoned him after he canceled his last tour after playing a few show and then he was photographed every other day on the beach. Sneaky Oliver 21,995
I hate when artists release self titled albums (except for debut albums) and then they bomb on the charts and they have their name all over a flop project If you’re going to name your new record after yourself, make sure it’s going to be a Beyonce moment

Future Lovers 6,720
And you know, he seems to be at peace with that according to his most recent interview. He’s done the megastar thing and didn’t like it. He seems perfectly content to just make his music and release it when he’s ready rather than focusing on the charts or streams. Honestly wish more artists would do the same. It’s so much more endearing to see someone do it because they love it rather than to chase a hit. And I think it speaks volumes about the people who make fun of him for that and how sad of a perspective they have on art and creativity.

I think Shawn is one of the few people who can genuinely say that they are content putting out music that doesn’t chart well, as long as it is enjoyed.

I can’t see how someone gaining the courage to work on their issues, learn from the past, and start building a better and more fulfilling life for themself is depressing. That’s what this album is. It’s lowkey, but it isn’t dour. It’s a rather hopeful record in most places.
RichAssPiss 4,880
The album is sweet. Not riveting but earnest and light. It's not going to garner much buzz because it's got no gimmicks or big pop features. I'm happy he's happy.
