StrawberryBlond 14,501
1. Born To Die Paradise Edition 2. Ultraviolence 3. Honeymoon Yes, those are her first three albums. I'm not afraid to say that her earliest material is still her best. I notice that no one seems to consider her debut her best anymore. Has she made better songs since then? Yes, but BTD definitely has the best overall ratio, there isn't ONE bad track, not a single skip. Yes, of course I love NFR and Boulevard (and not to forget the highly underrated Chemtrails) but when they repeatedly get ranked as her best these days, I just find it a bit eye rolling. Her earlier material was when she was at her least pretentious and when she didn't need to try as hard to be artistic and respected. It was just all about making great music without caring what anyone thought and also when she wasn't in such a rut artistically.

Its kind of refreshing to see someone who I have always associated with Lana (since I recall you having her as your avatar for quite a long time) say that. I have followed her career since before Born To Die released and have anticipated all of her albums, and I view NFR and Ocean Blvd as among her worst albums. They just don't do anything for me. I like Chemtrails and Blue Bannisters both way more.

She doesn’t try to be anything on this album at all. The best song on it has lyrics like “ice cream ice queen”. I don’t think she was trying to be anything - it doesn’t get more unserious than that. It’s a future classic with a little bit of everything she’s done before. It flows like a greatest hits album. Born To Die remains great but it doesn’t have half of the replay value or depth or eclecticism NFR has .
