If anything JFAD has shown is that Gaga as an actress doesn't function in camp movies unless she plays herself in them. Even in ASIB she was perceived rather as Gaga acting in it and not as her private self, but the music and the overall theme of the music business being portrayed in the movie somewhat made it acceptable that they cast Gaga and it went over our heads as soon as she started singing but in Joker the same concept proved it was a car wreck from end to beginning. If she really wants to continue doing this I feel like she should go for something where her stage persona is smoothly included so it doesn't raise any eyebrows for example like in AHS. It worked there because the role fitted with her stage personality. Harley Quinn would have fitted too if they were going all in with her but they chose to write her a more low-key Ally from ASIB like character but it didn't work. If she wants to work for longevity in her acting career I feel like an indie movie but with a studio like A24 or a movie that is more on a documentary - fictional / political side could really take the audience by surprise and make us respect her more as a serious actrice. Joker however flawed her reputation to be taken seriously as an actress and set her back to being just another pop star doing acting and I don't see how accepting a role in Star Wars could change that path.

Depending on who the creative team is, this could go multiple ways.  If the Taika rumors are true, I wouldn’t be completely against this.

Ideally, I’d love Gaga to do a more “commercial” project that isn’t necessarily aimed at awards. Alternatively, it would be great if she went more the route of a series (anyone else here for a Ryan Murphy reunion…maybe American Crime Story 4?).

Wouldn’t be my cup of tea personally. I would love to see her play a ‘normal’ role again ala Ally pre-fame, just something relatable and stripped back. Imagine her being a single mother or something, I think that would be more compelling to see her do than a star wars or marvel role imo.

Star Wars is a sinking ship, they've been canceling projects left and right. Gaga should stay away from this franchise, and I say that as someone who grew up loving Star Wars.

im not into star wars tbh (I should give it another shot) but it sounds like this could be a good career move no? It hasa built in loyal fan base. While they could be vicious and mean if the film goes wrong, they could actually embrace her if it goes well and she'd gain a REALLY loyal and solid fan base for hereself. It's a gamble but why not take it?

nah as much as I’d love for Gaga to join the Wizarding World franchise and slay a bellatrix role, JK Rowling is another issue on its own and I’m saying this as a huge potterhead. she needs to stay away from fantasy franchises for now

No remake, no existing franchise character, no real person it's based on.
