That’s definitely not a fact but go off sis. That’s like… if you care about that stuff, then go for it. Use it for whatever metrics you feel are necessary in order determine the quality of an artists work. Some of us don’t need a chart to inform us if we like something or not.

this is lady gaga. At this point in her career, charting is great but I highly doubt it’s her artistic goal. I mean, McDonalds probably sells the most hamburgers out of any company in the US… Doesn’t mean they’re good or quality. 
 

if you need to use charting as your objective to subjectively come to an opinion, then well, more power to you, but it’s also really a sad thing.

myself and others are not going to move on, we’re going to stay right here loving what she’s giving us and ignoring the charts because, well, if I like something then I do, if I don’t then I don’t. I’d throw myself into a steamy pool of festering rat feces before I let a chart determine what my opinion should be on anything.

So Just Dance was “forgettable” and not a good song because it debuted at 76 but five months later it became a “certified hit” when it rose to number 1??

If the narrative that only chart successful songs are good then no artist ever would put out an album. Since a big part of the songs never become singles and chart.
