RichAssPiss 4,696
No. He helps for buzz and visibility. But Gaga connected with a wide audience on Shallow and Million Reasons. It makes sense a song in that vein would work again. Interscope going hard on promo is also an obvious factor.

It wouldn't be the song that it is now if it's a Bruno solo... or a Gaga solo for that matter... so who knows? Bruno is incredibly GP friendly, we acknowledge that. But so are Gaga's love songs. Monstermilo 3,685
love gaga and i dont stan bruno like that but yes, bruno is the main reason why DWAS is slaying i would say its like 60 BM-- 40 LG gaga's recent solo songs, if they reach the top spot or top 10, leave after a week or so - brunos music has stayed on charts for weeks with that said, i think brunos not really a revolutionary artist in the way gaga is, hes talented but its been done before - gaga is so multi faceted and so versatile that history will view her as a bigger artist than bruno. but in terms of right now, yeah bruno is the reason DWAS is killing it. Phantomhive 1,945
It's because the song is a lovely duet that resonated with the gp, not because of one artist in particular. If Gaga sang the song with another acclaimed male vocalist, the song most likely would've been just as successful, same with Bruno if he did it with another female vocalist. Song would've smashed if it was sang solo but probably not as big as it is as a duet - and by that i mean both bruno AND gaga. I swear some of y'all are so weak-minded and easily gaslit into downplaying Gaga which is why the "no solo hit since..." and "bruno carried" drags easily took off. Mind you ARUTW being the MOST STREAMED NON-SINGLE by a female artist is proof of Gaga's potential if she fully goes the adult contemporary/ballad route in a music era. In I fly on wings of winter. hpmcmill 1,928
Wasn’t Gaga the mastermind behind the song though? I feel like in one of the performances Bruno was telling the story of how she wanted him on it. If that’s the case, give Gaga tons of credit - her song, her writing, her musicianship and her refined musical intuition to be like Bruno would sound amazing on this. So they both contribute to it being a massive hit, but it wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Gaga and that’s ultimately most important.
monketsharona 52,007
WTF, Lady Gaga literally made smash out of ROM, DWAS, Telephone, Shallow while Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Katy Perry and more are failing hard with their own very forced collabs lately. Maybe time to give her the credits she deserves in this fanbase ?
VOLANTIS 16,287
It would be a Million Reasons level hit or bigger for sure bc of how GP friendly, catchy and relatable it is. This is to say Gaga's hit streak formula doesn't stick strictly to these 3 factors. But we have to also admit collaborations will obviously have some impact. It's not a negative thing to say the song being a duet surely did heighten the success. dit 45,443
not as succesful. it's ok to admit that. she hasnt had a "proper" solo hit in a long while. Bloody Mary and ARUTW did well over a long time tho
StrawberryBlond 13,996
It played a big factor, it's undeniable. Bruno has been mega successful ever since he debuted, he's never flopped. His music is ideal for playing on the radio, suits many occasions, is commercial enough to appeal to everyone. Whoever he was going to team up with to do this would've generated a smash just for him being on it. Paired with Gaga, who's been around just a little bit longer than him and her loyal fanbase also making her successful for many albums, makes for a perfect storm. They're equally to share credit for its success. The only part where Bruno is really doing some extra heavy lifting is in the views. He's got more subscribers than Gaga and has videos that have more views and likes than hers, so his fanbase having to go to Gaga's channel to watch it was a genius move for Gaga's sake because you're pooling 2 fanbases for views (same was true for ROM). Obviously, they've shared the benefit by Gaga allowing their Vegas official performance to go on his channel because it was filmed at his show. We know Gaga can be the main reason for a duet's success. The careers of Colby O'Donis and Akon went nowhere after Just Dance. Telephone was more successful than when she featured on Beyonce's song Videophone. While we don't like to talk about it, R Kelly's album that he released the same year as AP didn't do well nor did he have any successful solo singles. She was the only professional singer on Shallow and Bradley had never even sung before. So, I think Ariana and Bruno are the only ones who really helped her in that sense. But notice that Gaga's always praised just as much in these songs? I think it's a case of you just can't beat the starpower of a collab between 2 big names. It's that simple.
