She's right, but it's sad that people who are supposed to be ARTISTS see music videos as nothing more than a way to make money, not as a way to give life to the song...

Also this is another aspect of the music industry that Tiktok has ruined. Youtube is dying because of Tiktok.

I agree until certain point about TikTok but I feel like the bigger issue is the way video culture in general became so common in people’s lives nowadays. I feel like that there’s no more of that mystery around a MV anymore so they got kinda uninteresting in general?

some of yall have no idea how the industry works lol.

The industry doesn’t exist. It’s all a stupid fabricated lie. And I prefer for it to stay that way because the more disconnected I am from a project the more I enjoy it. Selena Gomez’s first four albums worked because of that.

I'm brazilian and i’m happy for anitta's success, but she's always been interested in money and trying to go viral. She is a great business woman don't get me wrong...but she has no artistic views, she'll do and sign wherever she thinks the checks will come from.

I agree with TikTok ruining the industry. And it's sad, I also just joined it this year only cuz Gaga is so active there right now. But TikTok really collapsed long form videos.

So Happy Gaga brought back cinematic mvs with Disease.

Artists just need to spend less on music videos. We've seen million dollar videos that look like shite.

Now, I have personal grievances against her so excuse my mention of her but Melanie Martinez early on produced fantastic music videos with a very low budget. I remember the original soap video being made for only like a few thousand dollars and it was very simple but super impactful and pretty awesome. The rest of her early videos made for a small amount of money are also amazing.

If an artist has the right vision and uses resources extremely wisely, theres no reason you cant make an awesome vid for pretty cheap.

Terrifier 3 had a budget of 2 million and it was a whole 2 hour movie, there is no reason a 3-5 minute music video should cost anywhere near a million dollars. Skill issue.

Well, it’s everything era-wise these days.. people love to justify these poor rollouts of artists like Taylor and Gaga with the fact that the industry has changed and etc. The reality is that it isn’t even about that. They’re musician, artists, performers, it’s their job (and passion) to create as much art as possible through their careers. They should be excited to try to make as many music videos, visuals, performances, photo shoots, etc and not be lazy to drop a thing or two and move on to the next project.

See artists like Raye, who is literally doing a thousand things and financials/labels aren’t an issue for big artists like Gaga or Taylor; they could do everything they wanted.

raye is a breakout artist who's doing everything she can to get her name out there

taylor and gaga already played that game and now it's simply way more profitable to just drop an album and tour

it's always going to be about capitalism at the end of the day. yeah, their jobs are to entertain and perform but all the money spent on multiple late night tv show spots just isn't worth the hassle when they can comfortably sell out arenas from their names alone

mother, what must i do?

I mean, just look at how many views Disease has.

From a purely business standpoint, she’s right.

I mean, unless for big k-Pop groups MVs, that's the only one that still giving visuals and production values to their fans, it is pretty tough anyway. And them fans are actually streams hardcore. Like streaming it with 2 or more devices hardcore.

Most western pop listeners just can't be bothered at doing that. Not even Beyhives or Swifties are doing that, and they're like two of the most hardcore and revered western pop fanbases out there.

Not people's fault since she release them LATE

The locals are already over that song when the MV out a week after the song release. It would have better number if it was out the same time as single release.
