codymonster 8,353
I feel like we, as a fanbase, are a little bit at a turning point. We seem to be caught in this paradox where we want her to have be at the top of the charts like before, but we also want dark, electronic pop. With Disease, for myself anyway, Gaga has produce a song and video that GENUINELY fills me with excitement, intrigue, and passion. The song is so Gaga and so powerful, and the video is meaningful, wild, and artistic. In regards to the charts, we currently have DWAS smashing the charts, and Disease not doing the same. What I feel like people need to do is make a little bit of a choice: Do you want Gaga to smash, or do you want her to create things she is passionate about? And which do you value more? Personally, I don't really care about DWAS, but I ADORE Disease. Luckily, I don't give a **** about charts, so my experience with Disease has been SO positive. I saw the initial JOY and PASSION for this song in the thread the day that Disease was released. It was so wonderful to see. However, a couple of days later, you could see things changing as the charts didn't reflect what we wanted. Immediately, the mood when down, people started coping, people started saying this and that, and it was so unfortunate to see. All in all, I feel like Gaga is at a place in her career where she is healthy and happy enough to follow her passions. And I think she DOES care about the charts, but is trying not to. I think she's trying to lean into her artistic passions and also, into her fan base (which I think she had moved away from for a while due to the negativity). If we are happy with Disease, let's just be happy, regardless of the charts. Let's dance and celebrate this single and era with her. A) it will be a much more fun experience as a fan but B) it will be a much more fun experience for Gaga. I think she just wants to create art and celebrate it with her fans now. Let's be that for her, and we will continue to get the Gaga we love. I just think of artists like Tove Lo who has such a supportive audience. The numbers are NOT there, but the support she has is so sincere. Her video releases are so fun and joyous, because her fans are there for her and her art, not the charts. Let's try that for ourselves. Let's just enjoy Gaga as an artist, and not as a number on the chart. Her talent speaks for itself and it is very clear the public will love her forever on and off, since she is a legend with true passion. We know the GP's taste is garbage, so let's not let them dictate how we feel about Gaga. I know this is long winded, but I just feel like we are living in such an exciting time to be a Gaga fan, and I really encourage the fan base to turn off the outside noise and just enjoy it. The acclaim and charts will come when they want to; we can't control it. But we can control the experience WE have with the music. Anywho, back to streaming Disease and feeling perched and ready for LG7 3 4
LittleMonster20 9,786
Perfect Illusion and Stupid Love both weren’t smash hits and yet that didn’t stop Joanne and Chromatica from debuting at #1, selling over a million copies and being accompanied with a massively successful world tour, along with a widely successful second single around the album release time (Million Reasons and Rain On Me). There’s nothing to worry about for LG7. Some people make it seem like a slightly underperforming lead single is some sort of sign of confirmed flop for the album and rest of the era, and the last two eras prove that’s not the case.
Lucas 24,258
Honestly who cares about charts... most important is that you love the music. The charts mean nothing to you and won't change your life. The only thing that's bothering me with all that is Gaga once against showing no signs of interest for the era. The song & video were released like 3 weeks ago ? and again it's silence.

I mean, I understand what you mean but there’s a dynamic right now that we can all see. Since Love For Sale, things don’t look as easy as before with the GP. DWAS is doing amazing so that’s what gives me hope, but globally, HOG didn’t really work Love For Sale didn’t work Hold My Hand kinda worked on the long run but not too much Gaga Chromatica Ball didn’t really work (based on the Emmys) Joker failed horribly Harlequin didn’t work Disease isn’t working so far I’m 100% sure she’ll keep selling out stadium tours and I’m not burying her career yet commercially speaking, she’s still gonna be rich af, but there’s an undeniable decline. Now as a fan, I loooooove all the music she’s released this year. It’s all so great. I can’t wait for LG7, I just know it will be my favorite album since Born This Way.

I hope so (and think so) too! I just think that we also have to be okay with it if it doesn't. Because what's more important is having good music and projects to look forward to, not having something uninspired to try and appease the GP. This site would be a hell of a lot more fun to be on if we could think that way.
