nATAH 42,233
the age of streaming has changed music consumption so intensely and so fast, i don't think many of us have realised how little labels care about the success of singles for big artist's albums anymore i think the only reason they still exist is because it generates fan hype and engagement which they can profit off of more than the actual royalties from streams i mean lets think about it; what's the point is having a stable number 1 for weeks if you can't fill up seats in an arena? disease could never touch the hot 100 and interscope can still easily bank on making their profit on the album and tour, her albums have always sold very well (even ARTPOP) mother, what must i do?

I feel like they might have switched the lead after the Joker fiasco. Give the fans something while saving their GP catch for January.

Disease feels like such a weird lead single choice. Really there are only three explanations I can think of if this was already the plan: 1) Music Videos somehow tie together 2) The entire album isn’t necessarily vying for commercial success, and is made more for fans 3) They didn’t want the most commercially viable song released before the holidays, meaning it wouldn’t be in people’s mind when the album drops (which honestly is plausible) Unless it’s one of those reasons, I think they didn’t want all the Joker negativity to impact the album. Music needs to become viral with casual trends, with no deep meaning, the lenght has to be streaming friendly with loss of artistic freedom and creativity. I don’t stand by this and I don’t need to see Gaga topping in a country where people love Trump, trap, plain values and whatsoever. Time for Gaga to stay true to herself, and make music for the geeks, the alternatives, the nerds. Guys it’s obvious that LG7 is for US. Also considering the promo based only on sharing tiktoks of stans. It makes sense. I only want her to earn the right amount of money to be supported and to create. If an hit will come I’ll be happy, but she had her moments in the past, and all I want now is that she creates for our community, which will always be starving for her projects and support her. It’s impossible for a human being to be appreciated constantly by people who change their taste and evolve. She should go with the flow… and I don’t want that. Many artists like Kesha or Kerli are indipendent, make their art and feel good about it. Time for us to literally detox from this mainstream fever. I agree a million percent!

Wet Fire 6,637
I'm okay with her not getting more "solo hits" as long as she churns out masterpieces like Happy Mistake and Disease. I feel like musically we're going to witness her peak artistry over the next years
killme89 1,122
I wonder if people make these articles when Radiohead or bjork drop albums ? My guess is they don’t. This is clearly from the perspective of a Taylor swift or some other pop fan.

Telephone you mean- Actually all the pre joanne songs were label chosen. They thought Judas was gonna be bad romance level and i’m sure she wanted you and I or marry the night. Judas being a hit all these years later just shows you honestly don’t know sometimes and no one is right

The former songs have melodies and hooks that's addictive and distinctly Gaga. Disease has no personality in comparison. Truth hurts sisters. If you don't like it, it's your opinion so it's totally ok but Disease doesn't sound generic anymore. I mean the layers on the instrumental are pretty rich and the vocals are top notch. I still like the song though trolly troll troll
