Gaga Scholar 42
9 minutes ago, Ziggy said: The difference is did she have help getting more spins and thus a #1? The solo hit question is less to do with the writing and production and more precisely to do with does it feature another artist or not who could help them find more success Isn't this a common practice in the industry nowadays anyway? Think of all the artists who release songs with features in hopes of better chart positions. Jeesh. Let's get just as critical of everyone else for doing the same, please. At least Gaga insists on working in the same goddamn room with her features. "The truth is..." --L. Gaga, 1986-present 1

And the "it's bad" multiple times is not doing it for me. Let's both stop being sassy for a second, cause now I got really curious. What could be different? What's not hitting with you? What elements of the song make it bland and bad? How do you feel about the lyrics, the vocals, the structure, the production? Do you like the ad libs? The growls? The industrial vibe? I really don't think they are discussing in good faith, almost feels like they want to rile people up with gotcha nonsense arguments. Disease is a f*cking banger, you know it, the fans know it, everybody with ears knows it. And it's actually not doing that badly, it's charting above top 30 and it has stable streaming numbers, it achieved that with NO physicals... And let's not forget she has the biggest song of the world at the moment... The melody that you choose can rescue you 6

What elements of the song make it bland and bad? How do you feel about the lyrics, the vocals, the structure, the production? Do you like the ad libs? The growls? The industrial vibe? I think the lyrics are nothing new for Gaga. It seems like she has sung about a similar idea in the past with The Cure or Heal Me. The lyrics aren't objectively anything special and they are quite repetitive. There isn't anything really interesting about them or relatable. I think my expectations of industrial are a lot higher since I have heard artists like Nine Inch Nails, Boys Noize, Sophie, and Dance with the Dead - just to name a few. Disease felt boring compared to some of these artists songs, which are full on industrial. Disease felt "sanitized" - no pun intended. The music video had some interesting viduals but it had no story, and if there was one, I guess I missed it. It was forgettable, especially when compared to Gaga's previous music videos. The one thing I do like about the song is the vocals. It seemed like Gaga wanted a hit, especially since she got Cirkut to produce it, but it just didn't hit the mark for me and it's not doing too well in the charts for Gaga's standards. Which brings me back to the original point of this thread where the writer was questioning if Gaga can make another solo hit. Which by they way, I think she definitely can.... she just missed the mark with Disease. Thanks for being curious and asking me why I think this way. And I hope my response answers your questions and your able to sleep at night now. trolly troll troll 1 1
princedeeblebleble 521
She could have a hit, if she wanted :p look at all the things they did with DWAS. Pop up events, imidiate physical presales, website layouts, public appearances and some articles where they talk about the song and constant social media presence. Now interscope has to apply that tactic to Gaga herself, if they want to avoid such bs articles.

Unless they too question their/Gaga's ability to create a solo hit at this point in her career They might choose their projects to support with more discernment now, this is a possibility. I don't care about charts, but they don't lie when it comes to public opinion and "hit songs" are hits because the mainstream loves it, not just the fans. A good example is I had Some Help by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen. It's not the best song but the public is eating it up because its entertaining and fun. Disease is not, it's bland and boring. Reveal hidden contents Every song that ever charted was a marvellous piece of art, cause the public loved it. Levine 22,370
It is in moments like this that I'm kinda sorry she's a classy woman because I'd want her to drag this article on one of her socials 6
dimitristhe 1,544
She just did a sold out STADIUM tour for a multi-million seller album and a sold out jazz residency. She had the song of the year with Bruno Mars, a song that refuses to die. Disease is stable at 2 million streams per day and she has over 20 million daily streams total and they have the audacity to question her relevance? When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright

I thought that too but i Will Always love you Is whitneys biggest hit, i mean... And She wrote It. Like c'mon She obviously can make a hit. I think theyre forcing a narrative on an aspect that i think Is true. Gaga has Lost a bit of her charisma , It kinda comes and goes. That confidence and drive. For example at kamala rally She was almost seemed shy. Gaga..shy, even Happy mistake performance Shes slaying but a bit singing for herself. And Shes very much secluded from social media or even outings for celebrities. I feel like Shes not really ready inside for the exposure of a mega hit again. During BTW didn’t she say something of the sort “if you don’t like it today, you’ll be here for it in 10years” which proven true for BM, GH, HML, Judas….
