young men are no better than their dads who were brainwashed by fox news — it’s just in a different format now, and it’s also on their phone, right in their back pocket at all times.

another aspect worth mentioning is the alarming amount of modesty/tradwife content from young women.

i’m a woman, i insist, it’s my life ♀

I am curious to know if there was higher gen z turnout than 2020. Or if a lot of them did not vote because they would not support either party. Does anyone know?

I saw a lot of people my age simply not vote because “the system” or they voted for trump because “the system”

Well all you need to know is these two things : inflation hitting hard young people / young men having an existential crisis (and white women being more racist than feminists :triggered:)

White women? What’s not being mentioned here is that more white women and white men voted for Kamala, than Biden. The deciding factor here was the Latino vote. A massive 13 percent decrease from Biden to Kamala in favor of Trump. Yall can constantly blame White people because that’s all you know how to do- but if you look at this election- the Latino vote and the first time voters were the deciding factor this time.

Don’t we think it’s time to abandon Twitter now? Its not Twitter anymore, it’s Elon’s brainwashing machine.. I saw Elon posted “more men voting than ever before” blah blah and the TOP comment was Andrew Tate which said something like “Too bad girls, gays and ***s” I MEAN??!

I'm trying out Bluesky, which seems way chiller. I want to leave Twitter earlier this year but had a lot going on, and I actually use it for professional connections. Fortunately, a lot of my professional connections have migrated to Bluesky.

The final straw for me was being bombarded with pro-Trump posts in the week leading up to the election. Plus, I just can't support an oligarch like Evil Elon anymore. I'm pissed at how he wrecked Twitter.

And the false info spread on social media like a DISEASE doesn’t help. F all the Gen Z and all the other groups who were not properly educated when making their crazy vote or not voting at all.

A lot of this “outrage” is a continuation of the culture war garbage. The outrage factories only exist because young men feel “heard” by these right wing pipelines.  But since when did 18-25 year olds ever feel HEARD in America, ffs. Welcome to our harsh, rugged capitalist reality. But now we have a whole ecosystem of young assuming the victim role without giving life an actual shot and putting effort into themselves.

It’s funny, I distinctly remember growing up and being told endlessly to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps. And so my generation did just that, with success.  And we held our own social convictions through that process (pro LGBTQ, pro POC, etc).  We are now employed and a part of the full time working economy, with jobs and benefits. This is a growing process that takes YEARS.

To those terminally online, we need to drop some tough love. Time to log off, stop listening to podcasts and start taking action in your life. Work out, delve into learning about fitness, find actual hobbies, develop interests that don’t revolve around the internet or forums.  Get an entry level part time job and start working, open a Roth IRA and begin investing in your future.  You can’t sit around and listen to whiny podcasts that make you feel better.  We live in a capitalist system where you need to work, get ready to do so and get offline.

this is an issue with all generations, I don't feel it's right to generalize like that :noparty:

Millennials like us (I assume) had the luck of growing up with the internet, we saw the evolution of the internet and can see through the bullsh*t, but even then, plenty of millennials fall prey to the hateful content.

Gen z and boomers never had the privilege of growing up with the internet and are swayed by the hateful narratives more easily because of that.

How to fix this? I have no clue, feels like we are truly starting to live in a world where feelings matter more than facts, and now twitter is a safe place for all kinds of hate speech, I don't see how this will get any better moving forward.

Gen alpha for the rescue? Idk...
