You have to start with this album. This was the coolest album I had ever heard. And she kept making the coolest albums ever and trying so many different styles. She’s extremely underrated. I have to remember The Scene. One of the guitar players i think Joey? Wrote When The Sun Goes Down as a gift for the band. I have to do more research on what they’ve been up to.

I know people are gonna be upset about her just being at number five-and I completely get that, this is literally a website dedicated to her of course we’re gonna want her to be high up as possible-but I am pleasantly surprised to see she reached number five. I was expecting a top ten placement but not this high up tbh. 
Unfortunately, in the grand scheme of things she isn’t the biggest pop singer and the world, and they’re going to rank other people higher than her because of that (even if one of those people is most likely drake who deserves nothing)

What I do appreciate about this article is that they noted how groundbreaking, culturally impactful and industry changing her debut was. I feel like unfortunately, people are not giving her the credit she deserves these days for revolutionizing the scene. The ultimate popstar at #5? The text feels like a lengthy argument about why Gaga would deserve to take the top spot lol. I really don't know what they could say about the artists ranked #1-4 that would allow them to justify being placed above Gaga on a list of the best POPSTARS of the 21st century.

I understand that this is a list designed by and for the United States, but outside of that country practically none of the artists that remain to be listed meet the criteria of transgenerationality (that your grandmother knows who she is and may even know a song). Not Taylor Swift, Drake, much less Beyoncé. Perhaps the one who could meet it the most is Rihanna, but she as a celebrity and not as an 'artist'.

I would argue Beyonce is the only one who does deserve to be above Gaga. The others are truly a joke. If Rihanna had kept in the music business she would definitely be number 1, but she’s MIA for too long now so I don’t count her.
