At the time Democrats were laughing and cocky feeling as if the Republican party had destroyed itself and needed to rebuild as less extreme and less conspiratorial. What happened? The exact opposite. Trump appealed to a fustrated Republican base who felt overlooked and unrepresented. It was a base that was disenfranchised and not typically showing up to vote in massive numbers (hence why the 2016 poll predictions were so wrong). He built such a strong coalition with this base that he forced the entire party to trumpify, the right wing media to adjust and finally we have a situation where basically every Republican is a Trumper. As Trump proposes and enacts policies I predict that the progressive movement will explode. I see women fighting for their reproductive rights on mass, I see LGBTQI people fighting for gay marriage and other protections to not be rolled back, I see people becoming more and more pro-Palestine and demanding the US hold Israel to account (even as a strategic ally), I see PoC protesting injustice in policing and within the Justice system. I see anti-war protests, I see demonstrations on democracy and I see marches on income inequality. I believe the US can survive four terrible years and build a progressive movement that shakes up US politics as we currently know it. Ain't gonna happen and if it happens it only will boost the far-right.

But he's not gonna be able to remove term limits, and he's also obviously in decline health wise. I feel like SCOTUS will be reeled in at some point, Congress is not going to like them encroaching on their power. 2 minutes ago, Bebe said: One positive: I remember during the Obama days and even before the election of 2016 when Trump had just become the nominee. I think this will energize people for the midterms, and this will also slowly kill out Trumpism since they'll feel more vindicated. The best thing Democrats can do is buy time. Build a foundation for the next election, and put forward some younger figures that can be groomed to be president.

julz 8,048
Oh wow. I... never thought he would win again, what happened?!?! Is it just in the online world and Hollywood that Kamala is winning?? Im not American but I do know that alot of Filipino-Americans voted for Trump, from what ive seen online recently... I dont understand. I even dont get why he was eligible to run in the first place. As a Gaga fan, im just sad for her, her love for her country. I dont know...this feels surreal.
