If The Music Video Matched The Teaser

So, when we got the first visual teasers for the song, we were presented with these SAW-looking images of an old TV, with saturated greens, and a very stylized approach:

However, when the first clips of the video were posted, and I took a peek at Tanu Muiño's work, it was clear to me that was not going to be the artistic direction for the video. HOWEVER, after watching the video, I couldn't help myself, and for curiosity's sake, I edited it to more closely resemble the aesthetic we were originally presented with, on the teasers:

It's such an interesting contrast, because it truly is just a shift in the color palette, yet the end result brings quite a different experience.

I feel like particularly the indoor scenes, benefit greatly from a colder palette, as it reinforces the claustrophobic feeling of the song.

Certain scenes feel more unsettling when presented in a more distant, colder manner. It adds to the idea of the solitude present in a battle with one self.

The decision of filming most of the video in broad daylight, informs the tone. And it may have diminished the impact, of the horror imagery from certain shots.

Some of the makeup looks also gain depth when stylized in fantasy lighting, as it strenghtens the eerieness of the aesthetic approach.

Of course, not every single shot benefits from excessive styling. There are moments from the video which work very well in natural lighting, like the car chasing scene. The seemingly normal and tranquil environment, clashes with the perceived danger of the situation, and it works.

But it is impossible for me not to notice how the more horror-like elements do feel more organic, when presented in a highly stylized way.

So that's literally it. I was just wondering how the video would look like, if it was edited like the teasers :classy:

The natural lighting approach works for me, on certain scenes, but for visuals like the cell battle, I would've preferred a more stylized delivery :iamfair:.

Oof, it looks much better with that dark filter on

Gaga served & slayed 100% in the video but when it comes to the editing/cutting... of the video, I feel like it could be 1000 times better. It honestly feels a bit amateur tbh.

Mister G

I honestly find the video in full color without any overlays, filters or tints more haunting and in line with the premise of the song's production and lyrics. That's what makes it more uncomfortable and unsettling because she's illustrating how perfection doesn't exist even in the suburban landscape. If anything it's a paradox illustrating that even in something that is supposed to be, look, or come off as safe and secure, there are variables that will find their way toward "running you down" or "holding you down" and that these inner demons can exist at any point in time even when we feel secure in our surroundings.

These edits look great! But I feel like the music video is that way for a reason. I feel like there’s meaning behind the contrast of the broad daylight with dark imagery. Not sure exactly what I think it means though

Just download any video editor from the Playstore, and start adding blue, I did it in 10 minutes :ladyhaha:. If Tanu Muiño does not bring the Nine Inch Nails to our home, we can make it ourselves, god bless free apps :vegas:

cool idea, but it's total overkill

I would agree actually. Personally, I wouldn't edit THE ENTIRE VIDEO in such a monochromatic way.

I just applied the same filter and values to the whole thing, to see how each individual scene would look, if it had a more industrial vibe. Some work, some do not.

IF I had to pick a scene or sequence where the monochromatic filter would make most sense...I would say during the 2nd verse where she's stepping down on herself while being watched by another version of herself. I can also see this type of filtering going big and viral on TikTok as people edit more.
