poeticprose 238
I hate the whole return to form thing. She's not returning to anything - maybe dance pop but that's all. Not to mention she released a whole dance album in 2020. Disease is much heavier than anything she made in BTW. I understand the comparisons but I still think it's reductive. This is going to be clearer once the album come out imo. And it's more interesting to compare Disease with Chromatica. Both dance records but completely different vibes. Chromatica was softer, she was trying to pull herself together. Disease is heavier and more affirmative lyric wise. LG7 is going to be heavy sounds and defiant lyrics, whereas Chromatica had happy glossy sounds but some sad lyrics. 2
JustTea 4,116
Her vocals are giving metal for sure. Nothing alike she's ever done before on her albums.

In her vocals *maybe but Hole is WAY less palatable than disease is. (A sentence that out of context is very funny).
Economy 46,983
I mean theres potential truths in both statements Saying something gives vibes of some earlier work doesnt mean its gonna be a carbon copy This dark heavier pop can remind us of TFM and BTW without it having to be the exact same genre. She could branch into metal or a bit of rock and it wouldnt make parallels to earlier work untrue Im hypothesizing tho given we dont know what the rest of the album sounds like
zebrastripes 945
You've got a very good point: Stop comparing her to her past works. She's moving on.
Chesescake 3,646
I didn't pick up what she put down. She's the one who threw it into my face. The song literally sounds like TFM/BTW but heavier because that is what everyone asking for. 1

If you want some references, look Gessafelstein. Of course it will be popified enough. But I think it’s the main influence on the album. Sugar, spice, and everything nice. So would you say her industrial sounds have more of a German influence? Electro-industrial is a sub-genre of industrial, which is a mix of rock influences and electronic music, so perhaps we're seeing different pieces of the same puzzle. You mentioned Gesaffelstein. Which tracks do you find the most similar to Disease? I still think her voice does sound like Amy Lee a bit. So am I - I love industrial music. I actually thought Disease was produced by Gesaffelstein was excited that he might be a producer on the upcoming album. But turns out it's not him on Disease but who knows, he might be on some other tracks. I definitely think she's inspired by the German Industrial scene and she's mentioned it in the past during TFM era - I need to find the interview she said this. I think she's really leaning into Electro Industrial and Industrial Techno. I am excited either way as it's such a cool genre of music.
Super 889
is it that hard to accept that the song has BTW/ARTPOP vibes? that's not a bad thing and it doesn't mean she's repeating herself - maybe it means more that she's consistent.
