Notthebling 1,889
The last minute of the MV is honestly a career highlight for her. It all makes so much sense... she's gone full circle, and embracing being Gaga, being dark again. It's monumental for us, the fans, who were there since the begnning. The healing is over now. I'm so proud, and happy, she deserved all of that. Dat - doo - deet - doe. Dat - doo - deet - doe, dat - doo - deet - doe. The whole second verse is extremely and intricately choreographed. There’s soooooo much blocking and creativity that has to go into making scenes like that work. Parris (the rumored choreographer) is actually pretty notably talented and versed in THAT type of body movement. Also even the way her body pulses with the beat at the beginning - it’s beautifully choreographed- it may not be what people traditionally think of, but it sure feels like every movement was planned.
eifulien 2,414
Can somebody help me with the different Gagas in the video. I don't quite catch the references. Is the Gaga born from the monster's vomit supposed to be the Chromatica era Gaga? Are the ARTPOP (red shirt blonde) and Joanne (the one that took the car crash) Gaga doing the fighting in the street? What about the 2 Gagas in the room being observed by the monster? Is this TFM Gaga stepping, dancing and suffocating The Fame Gaga? Is there a BTW Gaga? Gaga with black costume and black wig? It's different from the monster or? So many questions, please, share your observations. It's super interesting (also sorry if it's already been discussed but with these 116 pages and every thread being merged here, one can't keep track). It's super interesting (also sorry if it's already been discussed but with these 116 pages and every thread being merged here, one can't keep track). I already wrote this in this thread or the other but There are probably some references from her previous eras, but I look more into it like her mental struggle and it’s evident. Not necessarily about her career and how was she comfortable during some part of it or not. The scene with the chains with the background demon version of her personality watching her struggle portrayed as an inner saboteur is just brilliant. The way she gives in to the pain and her „mental disease” by hugging it later, hoping it would be alright, trying to accept it/the vices, but eventually trying to get out. And it goes on and on and on, on a daily basis. Also the setting as much as it is a homage to early horror movies, it is also a great portrayal of how bright everything around you can be, but inside it’s just a nightmare only you know of. And nobody can help you beside yourself. We could also see the manic episodes in this during the scene she wakes up on the car for example. It hits even harder, cause I can see all of the resemblances of mental disorder that I also experienced. And the messiness of it all, it’s all over the place, it’s ugly, brutal, not glamorous. But so is your struggle. I really appreciate in Gaga that she’s not scared of touching such a thing in her music or videos. Sugar, spice, and everything nice. 1

Emily 673
I feel like the scenes where she's chained up and fighting with herself represent when she was "trapped in a studio for months" 😞 1 2
onionring 79
I'm not really up for writing a detailed essay on the mv but I agree with alot of you guys' theories and as someone said on here before I really am thrilled that a lot of people are not getting it not in a condescending way or anything but it you guys in gaga's "path to redemption" from the GP we been getting a lot of in a your face nothing burgers and i'm not in anyway shape or form diminishing her later work but i can't help but feel that she really became addicted to love of the whole world resulting in losing her vision a bit so it gives me such great joy to see y'all theories about it now. I see how you can interrupt it like she's reconciling with her previous eras or past work but i think it touches upon the personas associated within those eras and how she delt with those times by creating avatars for the mindset rather than the themes within the eras themselves what i got from the the narrative is gaga in black is the core personality i call her "the watcher" perceiving the all aspects of trauma fighting within we first see her hitting her "damaged" self and the first thing she lip-syncs to is scream for me baby to her damaged self after the latter open with verse There are no more tears to cry I heard you beggin' for life Runnin' out of medicine You're worse than you've ever been tormenting her with the trauma saying you need to bleed/relive/replay this to feel alive in a way then "damaged" is fighting with flannelga who i think is the part of herself whose dependent or more prune to use substances (could be a reach and i have no references for this but it fits this narrative that she watching herself use to cope ... and flannels) we contniue with her watching her glamga hurting herself as if she's is obligated to cuz gaga thinks that what the audience and label and market want (we cheer for the decay of the popstar ) like stuck in the idea that we only care for her if and when she shows us how ****ed her life really was through art (i.e fans demanding gaga channeling dark and traumatizing themes over and over again) she is stuck in this cycle of trauma dumping for the public while trying to manage her trauma which in a way became her doctor consoling her she became addicted to the sadness feeling like she's not an artist without it. comes chromatica which i think is the only era that makes an appearance on the video for the whole process of creating that album, being in love and the TCB being an cumulative turning point in her life through which she finally accepted that through her her art she can manifest a balanced viewpoint of all what had happened (i.e the walls closing in when she stops dancing in the final minute of the video) and as she walks to the car to keep driving not tormented like in the slowmo nor consumed by the darkness or the countess menecing vibes like in the begging like how she used to perceive herself but strutting. she is accepting her awareness of herself she's not stuck in the imposter syndrome anymore she's just being herself with all her self if that makes sense and if that's the case im really happy for her and really excited to see how lg7 will explore her retrospection on her life. hope this was an easy enough read if not sorry then i guess Edited October 31 by onionring 3
