thopekas 722
The question that is surrounding my head since i watched the video is why it was shot in the daylight? The whole concept and the horror elements scream night and dark, so i am sure that the decision to make it during the day is for a reason, do you have any ideas? Nite 4,834
I was always firmly on the side that she wouldn't make LG7 a self-titled album, but with this being the LG7 lead, I could maybe see her calling LG7 Gaga after all

Cause what happens in the music video happens in her head. That is the disease. And life goes on as it does normally. Bright day light around, but a nightmare in her head. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

salty like sodium 1,036
The video is decent, similar to 911 quality-wise in my book. But it isn't really as ground-breaking or conversation-starting as Bad Romance, Alejandro, Born This Way or Judas felt imo. Something unexpected is missing for me – it still feels very "been there done that" overall. It's a nice video though, well shot, interesting looks, appropriate for the song. But it doesn't feel like a "smash" to me. 1

Hovering 95
This is my interpretation of the video: The video, like the song, is about accepting that the "scary" side of you is both good and bad, and that there's no point in fighting "the disease," since, at the end of the day, the disease is still a part of you. That's why I believe that the Main Dark GaGa (the one who is in the car or watching the other GaGas suffering) represents LG7 GaGa, because it's the only GaGa that seems to embrace the darkness instead of running from it or fighting it. That's a lesson that Lady Gaga herself has learned recently. I believe this character is meant to be frightening, but not necessarily malicious, and the other GaGas don't seem to know how to treat her because they're scared of her, yet they also recognize themselves in her, which makes them both hate her and love her. I don't think it makes sense to believe this Main Dark GaGa is from any other era but this one, since it's the one driving the narrative; it wouldn't make sense for a past GaGa to do this. I think the GaGa in white that was hit by the car could be Joanne GaGa because of the pink nails and the "stripped" look, but it could also be Chromatica GaGa, as it is also pink-coded and Chromatica was accused of having a more simple, basic sound. If anything, I think it's a mixture of them together. The GaGa in the brown shirt could be ARTPOP GaGa, which makes sense because we all know ARTPOP was a massive shift in her persona, and both Chromatica and Joanne lack the edge that was so common back then, which peaked during ARTPOP. So, I think ARTPOP GaGa is actually trying to save Chromatica/Joanne GaGa, but Chromatica/GaGa fights back because she doesn't recognize ARTPOP GaGa, as they are so different. We also know that Lady Gaga's depression started during Joanne and peaked during Chromatica, so maybe that's why Joanne/Chromatica feel more inclined to interact with Main Dark GaGa while ARTPOP GaGa doesn't want to, which creates the tension among the two: ARTPOP GaGa isn't ready to face Main Dark GaGa, and Chromatica/Joanne GaGa only face her in a self-destructive manner. Secondly, I think the chained GaGa and the GaGa that's being stepped over are The Fame and The Fame Monster GaGa, interchangeably, which makes sense because, timeline-wise, it felt like one massive era. However, I have a really, really dark theory: I believe this scene represents sexual assault, mostly due to the suggestive imagery and because the darker parts of the lyrics happen in this section ("you're so tortured when you sleep / plagued with all your memories / you reach out, and no one's there / like a god without a prayer"). I think the symbolism here is that both Fame and Monster GaGa are deeply traumatized by the past, but are still completely unable to make sense of it because they're too focused on success and making it big. That's why Dark GaGa watches them in silence, but none of them seem aware of her existence. This is a Lady GaGa who was still too young to process trauma and pain, so both GaGas seem more interested in engaging with each other, just moving forward, seemingly unaware of how much they're hurting one another. Finally, I think the final GaGa, the one dancing between the walls, is Born This Way GaGa, mostly because she's the only GaGa that seems to be "born" in the video. This record is primarily about self-acceptance, and I think this Born This Way GaGa wants to embrace Dark GaGa, which is why she’s the only one who seems to try to interact with her positively, but she freaks out the moment she realizes that Dark GaGa is not just an ethereal representation of darkness, but also herself. The panic makes her feel trapped, but dancing makes it better (though it could also mean that the world could destroy her if she doesn't perform, which is why she doesn't dance that much: it tires her). The video has no resolution since Lady GaGa realizes that there's no point in fighting a battle that has no winners and no losers. By the way, I feel like when I was 13, trying to decipher which song from The Fame Monster symbolized every single fear!
