For me the „return to old form“ comes from the fact how she approached this project rather than the substance. Back when BR came out (which I think a lot of people think of when they make the remark) it was so against the grain and unique at the time that everybody was like „wtf is this woman on“. I feel like this feeling, eventho not as strongly just because we all know her unbelievable talent and creativity by now, is what we’re having right again and what makes it so exciting saving people, hunting things - the family business Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

This feels like the turning of a page way more than some kind of nostalgic retread or self-conscious explanation of her state, which is indeed her usual flavor. You can create a great cinematic story without actors, dancers, celebrities and other who's on the top cameos (like Taste with Jenna Ortega). Nothing leaked, not even a random still that Gaga didn't plan for us to see, and everything was really cryptic and we had a few days just guessing listening to the song in the dark. It was like she had some kind of disease, something that only someone playing a doctor could cure. If only she were a sinner, they could convince her to believe, lay her down with a slow '1, 2, 3,' and watch as her eyes healed, rolling back in ecstasy. It’s about the now and the future, she even said so in the poem. The video elevated the song so much for me. I can’t believe she pulled something like this off 17 years later. We are so lucky.  Song is still not a 10/10, but I can’t stop listening. It has layers and I discover something new with each listen. I really wish Gaga has a drama free future.
