Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

Personally I think that this is the conflict before the next era and LG7 ga is left standing walking ready to walk her new journey :)

So the Black Witch (without a better name) Is her inner musician.

You will notice She possesses and Bewitches all the forms of Gaga that are fighting each other. For example, the Gaga on the car starts to sing in Tandem with the Witch.

She is the Maestro.

You should all look deeper.

I think she’s referencing all of her past-selves in non-strict ways. Meaning a look doesn’t necessarily represent one only era, except if it’s in a specific context in one of the scenes, but depending on what she does, she goes more TFM or more ARTPOP etc. She’s the same person after all.

The Fame Monster: the Gaga driving the car. She’s the one who has the lead, she’s in control of the game, she’s the powerful one, she’s wearing a long leather coat (like on TFM cover), sometimes with black hair, sometimes with blonde hair (both TFM covers)

ARTPOP/Fame perfume: the light brown hair with the shirt reminds me of *that* street look she had in 2013, she attacks the other Gaga (ambitions) and then feels threatened (reception) and runs for her life but more importantly, the black vomit (Swine perf, black eau de parfum). 2012-2013 is one long horror story of her life.

Joanne: the car and the moving walls might be a direct references to the JWT interludes

Chromatica: when she lays down during the bridge, her hair/makeup are extremely TCB-coded and she’s begging TFM/ARTPOPGa for strength

I didn’t notice any potential direct nod to The Fame and Born This Way yet, I’ll keep on watching it.

I agree with this general premise, except - I mentioned in another post - I think the Gaga driving the car is her in LG7.

It is still so weird to me that she isn’t selling anything related to this on her store… no merch, no physical singles, not even digital singles

something tells me they got something up their sleeves

Anyone else point out yet that the black liquid she purges, that gives birth to a pure version of her is a callback to the Born This Way deluxe edition where she's covered in the black goo? This was her "born this way" reference that she learned to "love herself". HER MIND. I'm emotional.

Ya but then that version looks at herself and runs away… so that doesn’t make much sense

Reality

Geez, no one knows how to bring a mood down like monsters on GGD every time Gaga releases something :selena:

I'm not fully caught up with this thread, but from what I'm reading right now, it seems like there's a good number of people here who either don't like it or feel underwhelmed—though the majority seem to like it.

As for me, I loved it! It's definitely her best video since ARTPOP. I loved how dark, scary, and grotesque it was. This is the kind of Gaga a lot of us fell in love with and while I'll always love all the different sides of Gaga, it excites me when she delves into the darkness. Her mannerisms, outfits, and unadulterated grit in the video encapsulate the feeling of the song.

Some common complaints I'm seeing are (1.) people wished there was choreo, (2.) they wished it was night and not daylight, and (3.) that it was shot better. While I do think it could've been shot better/more interestingly, I don't mind the lack of choreo and the daytime setting. Her just kinda being crazy and all over the place fits with the vibe of the song. Choreo would've been cool, but it wasn't necessary imo. And I actually loved that it was shot during the day. I like the juxtaposition of these haunting, creepy characters in broad daylight.

Overall, fantastic video and I'm so f*cking excited for this era :bradley: Mother monster is truly back in full force :firega:

I wonder if the scene where there's a Gaga handcuffed to a pole dancing on top of herself is meant to symbolize the general downward spiral on her mental and physical wellbeing back in 2013 in the sense that the handcuffed Gaga on top represents Lady Gaga the product, being worked 'til exhaustion (not out of her own will but to satisfy the voyeuristic needs of the obscure figure watching from the other side of the glass), at the cost of Gaga the human being's health (which eventually backfires as represented by the second Gaga eventually snapping and choking the one who was dominating her).

It could symbolise general imbalance (health, personal life, artistry) since there two twins Gaga fighting and then finally both standing up before the cut.

I think this one is supposed to be either LG7 Gaga or a redeemed, balanced Gaga who recognises the darkness and the risks of fame and money-talking industry? Pretty much what she said on her story post. A blonde Plague Gaga was chasing Stephanie.

Flapjack

I enjoy the campiness and the subtle creepiness. Her stepping on herself is major, foot fetish for LG7 confirmed. Can't wait to see her plunge deeper into this concept

I see where ur coming from, but why does it cut back to the road scene then right after? And why is the Gaga that’s sitting in the car watching herself dominate herself in the asylum scene

  • rinasawachanta changed the title to 🖤 Disease's MV is not a return to old-school Gaga, it's a totally novel approach
