Why Delayed Video Could Be Good Thing

I always assumed it was a charting thing, like week 1 the song alone garners enough hype to have high streaming numbers, and then maybe week two when the numbers could potentially dip after the novelty is gone, the mv is released to reignite interest :v:

That's what used to be done like a decade ago... They would release the audio, 2/3 days later the lyrics video and around 1 week after initial release, the music video.

Now honestly the music industry is a mess, all release schedules are different, it's hard to know when to expect stuff from artists...

I actually also agree that it could be a good think promotional-wise. I remember that account on twitter @hasitleaked posted some of interscope's feelings towards chromatica (these tweets have since been deleted, they were asked to be taken down quickly) and they said that the label had wished that chromatica had more longevity "the way billie eilishes music does" I think that releasing the video a bit later actually really helps the longevity of a song because it makes the party of a new release feel a lot longer. Hopefully the video is as banger as the song is and people will feel happy towards Disease for a long time, I believe that is the best way to have a song/era with longevity.

Tbf, Chromatica could've had more longevity if they promoted it more. They completely abandoned it after release. There were a lot of things going on at that time so I get why her and her team did what they did, but even if times have changed, Gaga is still very promo sensitive... Chromatica needed performances and videos and they decided not to do that. I hope this era has what Chromatica lacked

I think it's great that we are able to talk about the actual song first without visuals.

It's an amazing listening experience and all the reactions I have seen agree...

Seeing people's jaw literally drop and have goosebumps ! I myself was shocked and so happy.

It's also fun imagining a music video, a choreo and outfits.

The song is just THAT GOOD. A huge confident flex from Gaga.

Have u heard that reaction personally from non Gaga fans?

I have not yet had a chance to hear from any non Gaga fans what they think. Most probably dont even know it.

I only know 2 coworkers that like Gaga a lot (but not hardcore fan like me) and when I went in on Friday, they knew she had released a new song but hadnt heard it yet. Ill ask Monday what they think

I'm gonna reiterate what I said in the other thread in that Lady Gaga in 2011 - 2013 was right about release timing. More time between the song and the video allows for the visuals to be moments in pop culture due to increased time for the song and hype. I'm okay with a little bit of a delay.

I think they stopped doing that cuz #1 it lost views and #2 videos used to be more important for immediate music attention so MV releases on the same day as the single became the norm

But now most people no longer listen to music on youtube, they do so on spotify or apple music

As such, there is no longer as much loss of important promotion if you wait a few days or week, meanwhile the video can have more of its own moment and push for more attention

Yeah I feel Chromatica had a lot of plans thag covid killed.

I lowkey always wondered if Gaga had such a huge gap till now for music because of becoming discouraged, putting so much work into something that just got cut short

It's funny because it's only been out less than 2 days and we are using the word "delayed" :huntyga:

Yeah... It's sad that they couldn't adapt their plans to a virtual space. The surprise Coachella set is what hurts the most to me... Imagine live performances with Blackpink and Elton

This rollout is weird tho... Where are the physicals? Are they not ready? Are they saving them for another week? I'm a little bit scared about the Christmas season... A lot of Christmas songs will start climbing the charts once November begins

I have full trust and faith in Gaga this time around. Only shame with not having a video now is that it won’t take advantage of the Halloween period with an actual official choreography which would have done even better on Tik Tok

Honesty it might be good because it can give the song a second wind, like the hype is already so major, and the video isn’t even out yet! Imagine the surge of new streams when the video comes out

Honestly I think the song will go well with the GP even though it’s dark and different.. ala Bury A Friend back in 2019

It’s catchy, easy to understand, nostalgic of old Gaga to those who remember her earlier stuff, and she was SO smart to release it right before Halloween! Best decision ever. It’s gonna be on every Halloween playlist and everybody will get to know it. Once a song is well known it sticks. Also perfect for as yall go into winter. I know northern hemisphere countries love to match their music to their seasons, like it’s a huge deal, and I think it’s perfect for as the season gets darker and colder

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I would hope they take advantage of halloween. It should work still if they release it early this coming week.
