I totally hear what you mean. I was team Meh at first, but the second listening changed my mind. My main issues come from the mix. Every parts seems mashed together instead of creating an effect of dept. I wish I was more surrounded by the instrumental when listening through headphones. Her voice seems a bit behind too. And that's my two cents, but I would've loved to hear the ending guitars more or like give us a full wicked solo. Other than that, the song is playing on repeat.

That’s what I’m thinking too. I like when I listen to a song I can hear the layers behind it. Like when I listen to Born This Way album and I hear all the layers.. I just love that kind of production. Her vocals are good but I hate when she’s loud, like in Perfect Illusion.

Lmaooo I saw that too, clownery:icant:

My heart sank. Then I heard the first 20 seconds and was screaming it was so good.

Like how do we get Bad Romance/Judas 2.0 and people are saying it sounds like JOANNE?!

Overall, I really like the sound, especially the chorus. I just wish it were a little bolder: heavy guitar riffs and a choir in the bridge would make it perfect for me.

Having said that, I'll stream the $#it out of It

It grew on me. When I play it, I can't wait for the "ahhh" moment before the first and second verse, and I have to show 1, 2, and 3 on my fingers while she sings "lay you down like 1-2-3"

SAME? hahah!! I also just heard it on my proper sound system, and wow?! the sounds that I missed...... I can imagine her opening her next tour with this song!

I'm so sorry for everyone who's not enjoying this song, because it is fire and it's sad you can't see it!!

With headphones on, after 5 listens you'll be screaming the hell out of the lyrics like this:

I like the production it’s very good i like the sound, however i’ve listened to it at least 15 times today but it’s just not clicking for me :bradley:

I don’t think it’s catchy, it’s boring, flat and weak melody- and lyrics-wise, I just can’t feel anything for the first time

Despite that I’m very curious for the album

I've always had a weird relationship with Gaga's lead singles. When you drop something like Bad Romance there's always going to be some sort of expectations about what she's going to do next. I didn't love Born This Way, Applause, Perfect Illusion, Stupid Love and EVEN Shallow at first and I do now but it took some time.

Disease is kind of a rare pick for lead single because it's a bit slower than I thought it'd be but as I've been listening to it since last night and this morning at the gym and driving, it's catchy and love the instrumental. This is a nice direction for Gaga. As always, I expect the lead single to be the marijuana to the heroine of the album. If there's something she knows how to do well is give us a great album from start to finish. We almost NEVER get the best song for lead single and fans know.

This song and album is going to be insane live and can't wait to finally watch the music video and hear the song how it fits with the rest of the tracklist.

The production is fantastic and there are some vocal highlights but, to me, it’s another Perfect Illusion or Stupid Love in terms of lyrics and the yelling-type vocals. The common thread is that she seems to be screaming the chorus on these lead singles and it’s becoming predictable. There’s a lot of anger and pain, which I completely understand is her journey post-BTW; but, again, it’s predictable. I expect we will be wondering why this was selected as the lead when the album comes out. (For Joanne and Chromatica, the first track on the album turned out to be strongest lead single potential and for whatever reason they chose the grittier track; which, paradoxically, also feels more generic because of the lyrics.)

I also don’t get the critic reviews that claim this is a return to form. What form? Im wondering what they think is “perfect form” Gaga. Disease definitely feels like a continuation of her musical journey to date. It’s angry, self-conscious, and explores more and more the industrial rock side of things.

Although I would love for this single to do well commercially, I have seen way too many bangers get paid dust by mainstream audiences this year, but most egregiously by American radio. Seems the only thing that breaks through is tired ass whisper pop the likes of Sabrina Carpenter.

Also, I find just unprofessional that her fiancé is credited as cowriter in her lead single, like seriously?!

Excuse me? If he was listed as a co-writer, it means he collaborated on the lyrics. It would be unprofessional not to list him.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but honestly, who cares about the charts and general public opinion? :teehee: We don’t need mainstream approval to appreciate the song. It doesn’t have to be a #1 hit to prove it’s a great song! :hor:

I hope the song grows on you.

of course we dont need approval but it would be nice to see her become the biggest pop star again. i dont want her to flop - seeing her work hard and for people to bash her is not something i like to experience.

Do you miss "love it when he calls me legs, in the morning buy me eggs"?

LMs really need to get the **** over dragging this one line over and over and over again to supposedly prove she always wrote unimpressive lyrics or something :saladga:

Something that defined her early songwriting was cleverness, jest and unabashed artifice. That is a point of view, which is what that user was talking about.

Her TFM and BTW are on another level, but this is the closest we got since back then… I love it

Care to comment on the several other examples I used, from every era of her career? :ohwell:
