In terms of leads upon first impression (sonically alone): 

bad romance > perfect illusion (I will defend this song until I die) >= disease > applause > just dance > born this way > stupid love

I do think the song is amazing. Part of me thinks that the melody and lyrics are a bit basic, and could’ve been done by many pop artists. 

But then I remember those “many pop artists” have relied on Gaga for inspiration. Gaga is the reference. So, after being a champion in pop, it’s hard to have another Bad Romance moment because everything’s been done before. And everyone has copied her lol.

Also, I really thought Perfect Illusion was annoying, and still do. 
I didn’t think Applause was strong, after the Born This Way era. 
So, Disease is truly one of her top leads for sure, for me.

Not my favorite. But her less known and more experimental songs always do it more for me than the singles, and I love the sound so I can't wait to hear how the album turns out.

The lyrics are a bit basic for sure but the way she sings the melody with a deranged flare and grit is something no one else could pull off today and I think that’s the lure of this song. Thinking about any pop star — Katy, Sabrina, Taylor, Olivia, dua, etc — not one of them could sing this to the same effect

Still feeling neutral atm, however, the song is very addictive. I think I was expecting something a little more experimental based on the previews we had. I wish it had a more powerful chorus like Judas/BR but over all I would rate it 7.5/10!

Yes that’s true! Specifically, I can hear Miley or Adam Lambert doing this song as well. 
With that said, Miley and Adam are also incredible vocalists. So, that means Disease is a song that only incredible vocalists can touch

Is a good song, it not that infectious like Bad Romance or Applause, it goes hard tho. 

love the sound shes going and everyone expected industrial pop dark pop, lets remember Gaga / interscope dont use to make the best song of the album the lead, so no-likers be ready.

This song is perhaps Gaga’s best lead since since Bad Romance and don’t at me.  Most of us wanted Gaga to return to dark pop music and this is probably her darkest release since BTW. The sledgehammering beat is a slayage and lyrics are catchy. Gaga’s vocals are out of this world. I can’t believe there’s people on here worried about the chart success and what the GP prefers this or dwas. This song is exactly what all of us were asking for especially during spooky season. Be happy with this amazing song or kindly wait for the next single or album in February.
