The inspiration behind the lyrics to “Joanne”

With her debut album Gaga fulfilled Joanne’s wish to become a published author by adding one of her poems, ‘For A Moment’ to the booklet of her debut album ‘The Fame’

The poem is about a girl walking in the rain, not knowing where she was going until she found herself and suddenly knew where she was going.

Reading the poem after Joanne (2016) came out, it’s touching to realise the song was directly inspired by this poem, especially the “where do you think you’re going” part, along with “honestly I know where you’re going”.

It’s also interesting that the poem echoes Gaga’s own journey of being lost after the Def Jam debacle and finally knowing where she was going with the release of her legendary debut album

Anyway, Joanne my love  easily my favorite project of Gaga's by a huge margin.
