Mr S 8,143
We saw with JFAD and how the people fumbled the bag big time with what looked like a decent story and incredible characters. Gaga basically did her part and did a great job but it wasn't enough as others weren't up to par. To prevent something like this happening again, should Gaga be involved in the production side of things? A lot of big name actors such and Brad Pitt are also producers for the film's they star in. Perhaps Gaga should do that to ensure her work is not going to waste?
Guillaume Hamon 5,946
Isn't it how Reese Witherspoon and Margot Robbie boosted their career? If it is what it takes for her to get great non-musical roles that are more than "the girl who's so madly in love with the hero" ... I wish her that!

Bronco 5,604
Its too soon. Most actors that move into the production side do it after getting a good few years under the belt & proven success as an actor. Reese Witherspoon's first major film she was a producer on was Gone Girl, 14 years after her first film credit and this was after she had secured an Oscar. Brad Pitt's first ever production credit came 19 years after his first film.
nodandsmile 9,758
I was so confused reading the title I was like "Didn't she produce Harlequin?" ot: she'll soon get to the age where she'll have to if she wants to work, very ageist industry!
Ashley 8,567
I think that’s a great idea. I’d love to see something where she has more involvement in the final product.

A lot of the people we know as Gagas acting contemporaries are people like Bradley Cooper who clearly doesn't need to ally up with anyone to get a big break as a producer anymore. So I don't think Margot is the best example
StrawberryBlond 13,973
Definitely too soon. She needs to win at least an acting Oscar before attempting that. The fact she's a singer would make going into production look like a cash grab and awards bait, like she just wants to add another string to her bow. Even Hollywood stalwarts don't go into production after a few roles, you have to build up that respect and show that you're not just in this for the fame and money. Barbra Streisand can be used as an example for a singer who turned to acting later. She was an executive producer on ASIB, her 10th role. And she didn't go into full time producing and directing until 1983, which was 14 years after her first movie role and 13 years after she won her acting Oscar. She only did 3 movies, though and The Prince Of Tides was the only one to get an Oscar nomination for best picture but that was it. It helped extend her legacy but it didn't win her more major awards. I've always said Gaga is a singer first and foremost, she should concentrate on that and have acting be a side hustle. I'd rather she was breaking music records than movie records. Maybe she can give it more focus when she's in middle age but I want her focused on musical output and live performance while she's still young and physically able.
