Coldplay captures its fifth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, and first in over a decade, as Moon Music debuts atop the list (dated Oct. 19). The set launches with 120,000 equivalent album units earned, of which 106,000 are in traditional album sales

Of Moon Music’s first-week units of 120,000, album sales comprise 106,000.
Streaming equivalent albums units comprise 13,000 (equaling 16.71 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs) and TEA units comprise 1,000.

The new album’s opening-week sales were bolstered by its availability across
• at least 8 vinyl variants
(including two signed editions, and  red - Target edition with three bonus tracks, blue, yellow, green (Spotify Fan First), clear(Notebook Edition))
6 CD variants (including a signed edition, and a “notebook edition” in collectible packaging with bonus voice notes) — all of which were manufactured with eco-friendly initiatives
at least 4 digital download variants (standard, Full Moon Edition, Tour Edition, Voice Memos). Of the digital editions, there were two versions that each included 10 bonus tracks each. Coldplay’s official webstore offered the download editions at a discount during release week.

The album’s vinyl sales total 29,000 for the week — Coldplay’s best sales week on vinyl ever.

I hated every single song

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Coldplay. The music is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory most of the songs will go over a typical listener's head. There's also Chris Martin's introspective outlook, which is deftly woven into his lyrics - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Romantic poetry, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these songs, to realize that they're not just beautiful - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence, people who dislike Coldplay truly ARE idiots- of course, they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the emotional weight in "The Scientist", which itself is a cryptic reference to the complexities of regret and longing. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Chris Martin’s genius unfolds itself in their ears. What fools...how I pity them 😂 and yes, by the way, I DO have a Coldplay tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only - and even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

King of the Fall

Too bad the music is mediocre, I liked Coldplay back in the day when they were actually putting out good albums but they lost their way awhile ago. This album is even worse than Music of the Spheres which at least had Coloratura

Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

The Fame Monster

I’ve always found at least a few songs I liked on every album, but this time I didn’t.
