Really? I kind of love it :icant:

Spoilers obviously but at this point, if you're in a Joker thread without seeing the film then you're just asking for it :laughga:

I actually live for subversive narratives where things take a hard left turn out of nowhere and endings are bleak and dark. When that dude shanked Arthur my jaw literally dropped. It left me with some many satisfying questions that I don't necessarily need answers to.

Was Lee his visitor? Or his old lawyer? Is Lee gonna take up the mantle of "Joker" or will she hear about this dude that killed Arthur and basically crown him the "real" Joker? Lee obviously still believes in the "absurd anarchist" movement which is hundreds of people strong, if not thousands, and want to burn Gotham to the ground 'cause they're so disillusioned with society. What are those people doing?

So much food for a sequel that should absolutely never be made :icant:

I'm all for a bleak and dark ending but this was an unsatisfying one. It came out of nowhere and seemed far too abrupt. And yeah, it did bring up all the questions you listed and we know we'll never get them answered in a follow-up so we're left wondering for the rest of our days. And to bring up the anarchist movement, where were they in this? 2 guys are all we seemed to see whereas the first one had trains and streets full of them wearing clown masks, was it a huge money saving exercise to not hire all those extras this time? A common question is where the $200 million budget went. Well, we certainly know where it didn't go. It just felt like a much smaller, insignificant film with about 2 and a bit locations that even felt way shorter.

If you’re gonna post facts please actually research what you’re posting.

It underperformed globally as well.

Not only did it underperformed globally as well, but the user said fans and movie goers are enjoying it??

someone did not get the memo on the 31% audience score. Another quantitative measure about how this movie is mostly perceived as being bad

So you don't understand the movie. Heard. And that's okay.

There was loud complaining the second we found out it was a musical and that complaining hasn't stopped yet. And I didn't mention incels, even though they're also whining that the movie didn't cater to them, soooo

If I may add my two cents. I understood the movie. The Joker is not someone people should idolize. People should not look for sensationalism. People should remember the tortured individual behind the martyr he never asked to be. But its still a good concept done wrong.

if your audience expected A, and you marketed A, but then give them B, its obvious you’ll get resistance no matter what from a good chunk of that audience. You would need a hell of a good story to turn on those who supported you without them being angry. Sadly this movie does not have that. If you ask me, the reason this failed:

1. Turned on its core audience without an airtight script to justify it.

2. Deceptive Marketing.

3. The Musical aspect not adding anything to it.

4. Not doing test screenings and refusing to accept criticism.

I feel like this is such a weird parallel reality thing. I mean, it was one of most anticipated movies of the year, we knew it was bound to have a negative response for the musical aspect of it and we were READY for the backlash. But I could never ever imagine it would flop this hard, we just got Mean Girls and Wonka musicals kinda recently and there wasn’t as much hate, Wicked is just on the horizon at this point and some people are really positive about it, there’s no way it will suffer the same fate

Is it boycott? Is it something behind the curtains that we are not aware of? Something’s truly off :messga:

It's wild to me because didn't Venom have truly awful reviews and came out around this time and smashed the box office and didn't have all this hate train? Why is this film having so much negative publicity when poorly rated films come out all the time.

Venom is a bad movie, but it's also fun. Joker FAD is a bad movie and a terrible slog to sit through. People who have just come out of FAD tell their friends, and post on social media, *immediately* urging people not to go see it 😅

Not really, I think monsters are over thinking it. The script was weak, the movie was bad that’s all. Bad scripts and bad movies happen all the time. Nobody will remember the movie next week. All is good

But we’ve seen a lot of these comics universe films come and go but yeah the worst and floppiest out of all of them had to be the one Lady Gaga is in it :messga:

@JustTea Facts funny to you?

This movie is a huge flop and the lying and gaslighting from this fan base won’t change that.

I've touched on your first 3 points in other threads and don't fully disagree with you on some of them, but my main point still stands and the 2 reasons I mentioned still seem to be the 2 biggest complaints

The amount of negativity you are spreading here...

Eyeroll Ugh GIF

Spoiler

"No negativity on this site, please"

Funny is the gaslighting you are doing... The fact is that it did "ok" globally, 3 times better than in the US. That's not even bad opening.

It’s not negativity, it’s the actual numbers and facts unlike the lies some of you want to so desperately cling to.

It didn’t do ok. It did horrible. I am begging you to actually look at the data. It’s ridiculous that you all sit here in delusion.

It’s currently at $165M total (US + international) on its second weekend when it needs $500M to break even. In what world is this “ok” or a success? Learn how the box office works before trying to post “facts” that are straight up lies.

This right here honestly seems to be the Warner Bros Way of Working because they don't ever seem to learn any lessons from previous mistakes they made with any DC Comic based film (looking at you BvS: Dawn of Justice and Justice League...and of course The Flash).
