She's extended and amended parts, but she has not signed a fresh new contract as far as we know. When her documents leaked, there was some debate on whether she extended to 7 albums or 8, but I personally believe it was 8 at that point (2019). Originally she had 5 albums, then she amended to 6, then 7, then possibly 8. Chromatica is her 6th album that counted towards that contract, with C2C and ASIB not counting (so presumably LFS didn't count either). Harlequin is more than likely not going to count simply because if it did there would have been more label backing for it. She's in a 360 so I'm sure it was funded by Interscope under the pretense that it will excite people to see Joker and thus get Interscope a bigger return via a Joker cut. It's why she was powerless against Interscope changing all of her studio vocals for at least 5 years. RedOne also confirmed Interscope execs could come in at any time and demand changes mid recording/production process. And this was during BTW when she was massive. Essentially the benefit of the deal is the label will promote the absolute living **** out of you, securing your name in public. But you also sign away significant creative and financial rights. 1
Sunny 12,735
It was released under a subsidiary and it doesn't count. It benefits Interscope more than it does her, unless she is happy with her contract I like dancin', and ponies....

Or are they counted as purely remix albums? Tbh I think those can completely be seen as side projects and not included in any sort of album count, the same as The Remix and BTW: The Remix. It’s not new songs, it’s originals that already exist in her discography, just some reimaginings of them See The Best In Everyone

That’s interesting they let a project like BTW happen then bc…as much as I love it it doesn’t seem like an exec’s wet dream then again I think this explains certain things like bloodpop on Joanne and some of the collabs in chromatica. Not bad things but kinda random at the time. Edited October 6, 2024 by Ziggy
RAMROD 106,644
Harlequin have her own & Michael label imprint, not just Interscope. So they might be just working together, with Interscope/UMG dealing with the distribution of the hard copies. Which is also might be why we haven't seen this alboom sold on any stores but her own so far. So I am leaning to no, it doesn't count. Fingers crossed that LG7 has as little meddling as possible - if there‘s a collab, I want it to make sense and be Gaga‘s creative vision and not some studio exec‘s

StrawberryBlond 14,442
All I know is that Gaga renewed her contract with Interscope in a deal that will last many years. The way things are going, I think that label is going to have her back for life. They bought her a horse, for God's sake. After the success she brought with ASIB, they were forever in her debt. She's one of the few artists on their label who can pull in sales like that. They won't want to let her go.
