Batwings 12,847
I would love to see her do something like Natalie Portman in Black Swan, an A24 psychological thriller that's very artsy. 2

Such a gaslighter and privileged psycho (which was the point I know). That scene of her listening to Arthur's voicemail and holding the gun, I'm like welp it's over, only to next see her on the steps with a haircut and the signature makeup like wtf. Then she just walks away... and survives??? (If this was to leave room for a Harley solo movie, we don't want it) The hopeless romantic in me was really hoping for a Romeo & Juliet kind of ending to bring home the love story - twisted as it was - but nope. She never cared about Arthur like I wanted her to. My favorite scenes were the ballroom dance (Folie a Deux) and Gonna Build A Mountain sequence because they were giving rom-com/old fashioned musical. They really should have gone all the way with that stuff because even if people hate musicals, they can appreciate a well-performed and executed musical sequence like COME ON. Joaquin even tap dances! All the potential in the world and yet Spoiler I thought she started to care about him towards the end because who else would be visiting him. I actually thought the scene was going to cut to her waiting for him after he died. 😭 But yeah I was thinking during the movie that I would love to see her in something lighter. Sure it may not be as challenging, but it could be something fun.

They left it vague but in my headcanon I'm hoping it was her 😭 Thank you for reminding me, I'm inspired to do an edit now... 👀

Tyler1992 2,152
Gaga has done well proving herself as a serious actress, so I hope in her next few projects she makes it light and has some fun. I think it’s much harder to make the switch into serious actor, so I’m glad she took the hard route into film. She seems to gravitate towards larger than life characters, which is fair, she wants to sink her teeth into the characters.

LadyEnigma 1,063
3 hours ago, MEM said: Obviously she has the range for playing darker/complex characters and it might not be something she's interested in, but for my own personal sanity I would love to see her in a romantic comedy or drama, because I know she can do it! Like can you imagine her in something like Moonstruck? Or Pretty Woman? Or anything Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock have done. I would just LOVE that. With The Countess and Patrizia, the anti-hero thing is clear and you're supposed to "love to hate" them, but Ally is the only likeable person for the right reasons. Everybody say thank you Bradley Cooper. MASSIVE but relevant JFAD spoilers under the cut (seriously I am warning you): Hide contents While she absolutely slayed the role, I hated Lee so much. Spoiler Hold AWN I love your take?? It fits into my Romeo & Juliet headcanon. The way she looks in that moment is so convincing that she gives up on her life right then and there... as opposed to her being like nahh not today, put the gun down and give herself a haircut instead But then again, I like the idea that if the staircase scene WAS real, then it could be that after some time, Lee changes her mind, she DOES care about the real Arthur, which is why she decides to visit him in prison again... right before ynw I mean why else would they be vague about the 'visitor'...
Juniper 789
I think because she’s so kind and sweet irl she likes to let the dark side out when she performs.

Bradley 57,526
Ironically, her reception is best when she's playing an ordinary, good character (ASIB). 1

Prostitute Barbie 4,076
One part of the movie I wanted an answer to but didn’t get is Spoiler Was it supposed to be implied that Lee was the one who planted the bomb? I don’t think it was ever clearly stated. If that’s what happened then she really was the villain of the movie for trying to kill Arthur just for him not being the fantasy character she idolized

That's what I assumed anyway. Kind of like, if Arthur isn't going to do it, I have to do it myself. At the very least, she orchestrated it and made someone else do it. I think all Joker's fans were the 'villain', Lee was just the president, so to speak. That's also why I assumed she would kill herself too, in the scenes following the bomb...
