I’m not going to speak on the specifics of the movie because I haven’t seen it yet (I’m finally watching it tomorrow), but in terms of having her be the “traditional” Harley Quinn, that was never going to be the case. Joaquin’s hardly a traditional Joker. I feel like people going into the film expecting a comic accurate Joker and Harley were setting themselves up for failure. The first movie made it abundantly clear that this is not what this universe is.

Spill it. Was it a good movie? Was it well done? Are the critic reviews being harsh?

PS: without spoiling the movie plz

I would really suggest that you watch it regardless. This is Gaga's biggest movie so far, and as a Little Monster, it's like one of the boxes in the checklist that you should have done in your life. Despite the movie being panned, it's not a movie that you would walk out from the theater... it's not that super bad. Pls watch Joker 1 or a recap before watching, will help alot. Also, it kinda helped that i watched it alone bec i was not distracted by anyone's reaction or comment.

Moonlight on Water

I really dislike the movie, but I enjoyed Gaga's parts. I would say I really enjoyed them, but even some of her lines were a bit off and cringe.

THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS AND I CANT SPOILER TAG ON MOBILE!!!!

So honestly, I thought they could've done more with her version of harley. I liked where they were going where Harley had some kind of idea on mental illness and she was the toxic one in the relationship, I was so ready for it. Instead, she was just another one of Joker's obsessed fans for whatever reason. I felt like Lee had the same disturbance Arthur had in the first movie but more interesting than some guy continuously getting kicked down.

I also don't like the fact that they completely strayed away from the fact that the Wayne family was introduced to the universe. There was literally no mention of how bruce wayne's parents got shot in the first film, which is pretty significant to the creation of batman. Why introduce the wayne family if you're just going to have bruce wayne as some normal orphan?

There was a lot of wasted potential, and I seriously feel like I just watched a collection of court scenes from law and order. It. Dragged. Half the audience left before the movie was over and I honestly wanted to leave because I stopped caring about it. I liked the musical numbers Gaga had, but there wasn't much acting from her. I felt like I was just watching Gaga, not Lee. Gaga was my favorite part of the entire ... whatever I just watched. In the end, I wish I could get my time and money back. JFAD is not worth it all that much.

Definitely fair! And on an optimistic note her Harley definitely matches Joaquin’s Joker. They just barely used her and it’s so frustrating. Lady ****ing Gaga shouldn’t be in a movie to essentially be a background character (literally sitting in the background) for the majority of the film:awkney:

She doesn’t even feel like Harley Quinn.

Arthur doesn't feel like a traditional Joker either. Batman was a child in the first film and Harvey Dent (aka Two Face) is a prosecutor who gets his scars from a car bombing rather than acid.

If you didn't love the first movie you won't love this one. It's really that simple. This is not the kind of movie where Lady Gaga fans will love it just because Lady Gaga is in it. She's a supporting character to Joaquin's Joker.

Her Harley is the antagonist to the humanized Joker and the movie is told from his perspective.

I feel like Gaga fans were expecting a Suicide Squad type of Harley or the Harley from HBO Max for this movie and I'm not quite sure why since Joker was nothing like any version of THE Joker we've ever seen before.

I keep wondering if the movie would’ve worked with Rooney Mara (i.e. Joaquin’s wife IRL) because she’s a great actress and they were thinking of her in the early stages. Would it still be a musical? Who knows. But it definitely wouldn’t have the same energy that Gaga brought. Probably would’ve flopped harder. IDK.

The Ew from Judas

For years, ive been wanting DC to do a more serious take on Harley-more like the Harleen comic if you’ve heard of it, that’s my favorite Harley story tbh. So I was happy to see this movie take that direction-I know I’m probably in the minority because I wanted a gritty Harley from the start lol. So the changes made to the background of the character weren’t actually that big of a problem to me-as several people have said before me, the Batman characters in these movies are pretty much only themselves in name only.

its sad that you have to kind of throw the source material out the window for these, but it’s something I’m willing to do if they do something good with it. For people who are big fans of the traditional Harley Quinn, she may be controversial, but the same goes for the joker-i know several people who don’t like these movies because they made him too different from the comics

I feel like i dont want to read anymore thing about this FAD era, i just cant imagine how Gaga is feeling right now:fatcat: months ago i reply to an user in a thread that there is NO WAY that this would be a flop considering the major success of the first one. I feel so ashamed and shocked right now:bradley::traumatica: can we just move on already to her next role? Im so mad at this directors cuz same thing happened to House of Gucci

Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

I loved her depiction of Harley, the comic version has already been done.

As for her singing, it was a creative decision because Lee’s character isn’t a trained singer therefore wouldn’t have a perfect voice.

She feels like Harley Quinn to me. One of her origin stories is that she was a psychiatrist who disguised herself as a patient on Arkham to get closer to the Joker, and that's exactly what Lee does. One twist is that this Harley isn't an innocent, helpless victim. She's manipulative and ambitious. :enigma:

Although it is a bit suspicious that Todd Phillips reversed the Harley-Joker dynamic, making Harley the manipulator and Joker the victim, I did appreciate this more villainous personality. She was so provocative and mischievous, I laughed so hard when the lawyer told Arthur that Lee told him a bunch of lies and she's just a rich girl who committed herself to Arkham willingly. :ladyhaha:

I agree, the depiction itself isn’t bad, but the lack of screen time worsens it and it doesn’t give us much time to get to know her.

I’m just so tired of films printing Gaga all over their ads to give her a measly five minutes and no character development. She has the power to do it. Her final scene being cut??? I could not believe it. But then again she gave up on Arthur and a dance break might not have been appropriate

it’s… ok :ladyhaha:

pretty boring at times & it has the balls to show you clips from the first film to be like “hey guys remember this better film that you could be watching right now??!”

although i will say i think I’m in the minority that really liked the ending, i really don’t think it’s as bad as everyone’s making it out to be :laughga:

Not even that, I think it’s just such a new version of the character that more time alluded to getting to know her would have been so beneficial. But there’s so little time with her and her character.

Disappointing. A waste of talent and budget. I say this as a big fan of musicals, Lady Gaga and the first movie. Beautiful photography, great actings too, but it feels like everyone worked alone and put them together as a Frankestein Monster.
Gaga shines, but her character isn’t developed in the story.
