Agreed. The average person mostly just cares about the plot/pacing of the movie. Given how the first movie has such a solid plot with a strong message + shocking ending, the negative reviews are understandable. The first movie was an intense buildup to this complicated character but nothing really happened in the sequel sadly. Arcanum 4,855
Just got home. I personally enjoyed it! I loved the imagery, the symbolism and the descent to madness. I can't say the same about the rest though. At the end whenever Arthur or Lee started humming words ready to sing people got more and more frustrated. At the final sequence many started to yell that they wasted their money and even overheard some of them accusing Gagz for the direction of the second film as if she had anything to do with the writing or the musical aspect! Hopefully, this was just my immature co-citizens and things turn out better elsewhere! I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love. 1
Jennie Kim 6,920
The lashings are just starting, the weekend reactions are about to make Todd quit the industry. Looking at the bright side, JFAD will be forgotten in a month. Edited October 3 by Jennie Kim 1
LateToCult 39,635
At the theater. It’s out of the coke oreos. I wanted to munch on them while I watch Gagita sing to Arthur.

Their new target is "Agatha all Along". Since trailers started to come out, they been hating in Instagram comments about no one asked for the show, and compare to totally different projects just because they also have female leads, It's actually gross.

James Gibson 3,438
Not like Todd quitting the industry would be a bad thing. He's historically a really bad director. 1

Tinnitus15 50,490
Saw it today and yeah Gaga’s amazing, she did her bast with what was she given. The singing was too much ( saw it with friends, who’re not into Gaga that much and they pretty much said she was there only singing.) I mean I enjoyed it but nothing major( compared to the first part) Edited October 3 by Tinnitus15

Head Empty 24,255
I just saw it and I thought it was okay. The acting is great across the board. The cinematography is amazing. The story is sluggish and not compelling. The use of music is awkwardly paced. For a movie this risky, it feels like they played it way too safe in the writing room. They didn't embrace the madness that a Joker x Harley musical could be, and ended up with a movie that doesn't really know where to go after the first hour. Good thing is that Gaga is getting pretty much unanimous praise. The main target of criticism is Todd Philips, who notoriously isn't good with sequels. Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺

I just saw a tweet with over 88k likes saying how people were leaving as more musical numbers came up… I find it hard to believe this. The reaction seems so dramatized, like I get a lot of people didn’t like it but something’s fishy over here. Also, a lot of these hit tweets seem to come from Marvel fans, is this what they do? there's a LOT of viral tweets dragging this movie, but I think there is some truth that people were severely turned off by the musical elements. A friend went to a pre-screening and most people were audibly annoyed at the singing. I actually do think WB's efforts to downplay the musical element is going to be the reason why the audience score will plummet this weekend. 4
eddyjeddy 1,295
6 hours ago, Easy said: I think the movie is brilliant and my explanation contains spoilers. Hide contents The whole movie was about how Lee and everybody only loved Joker but Arthur. This movie is so brilliantly made because it makes the audiences who complain that this isn’t the Joker movie they expected one of the people who didn’t care about Arthur as well. If you think about it this way, it makes so much sense. People enjoyed the riots and unrest Joker brought to the city. The first movie became so big because of how it connected with our world and WB wanted another one. When the title was announced people expected a movie about Joker and Harley committing crimes like a crazy couple. The protest scenes were shown so that people think there will be some sort of revolution in the plot. Then boom! The movie premieres, it is all about Arthur as a person, people lose interest. Maybe there are flaws in editing or pacing, maybe it is going to perform worse than the first one but it is a perfect art piece that pulls audiences into the narrative. okay now that makes sense we are just like Lee/Everybody then But in the cultural sense, I just speak in future tense
