I expected less and am pleasantly surprised :vegas:

The Joker and Happy Mistake need to become the next Shallow and Always Remember Us This Way :kara:

How much did L4S debut with?

khiaty cats are claiming its a flop since it has been promoted along a movie that had hype built up for 2 years. :ladyhaha:

It’s not even the joker sound track.

I'm upset. Imagine if they put Happy Mistake and Joker at the 1st and 2nd on the album.

Please! Nowaday is streamming era. So please put your most focused tracks at the top!!!

The album follows a clear narrative — a build up, a collapse and then a third act. This is ART. F*** the numbers and reading into random desires from everyone BUT Gaga.

Why are you (and others) upset? You have a new album, with gorgeous vocals, including a ballad that’s absolutely beautiful, but because of some arbitrary order some of you are suggesting would help streaming numbers, that’s all that matters?

However tho, 143 drops to 5 M for the second day. I estimate an increase for Harlequin on the 2nd day and Happy Mistake will likely enter top 200 WW as people discover the song and it's already pretty close. You need around 1.3 M to enter top 200.

A cope. :bradley:

And even if it were the OST, soundtracks don't usually get a boost out of of film buzz or promo. They get more popular AFTER the film is shown and gets good feedback.

This is why Harlequin is released this week. Fans are going to stream it this week due to freshness and the movie and the promotion will carry the album along the way next week and many more weeks to come.

“Harlequin” by Lady Gaga earns the biggest debut on Spotify for a Jazz/Traditional Pop album.

1. Harlequin, Lady Gaga 7M

2. Bewitched, Laufey 5.7M

3. Love For Sale, Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett 1.1M

Reality

Honestly, I don't see this as bad at all. We only knew of its existence this week and the album is full of genres that aren't super popular right now. The average person is probably not clamoring for a fusion of jazz/theatre/soul/gospel/rock/etc. in a Lady Gaga album. LG7 will do much better because it'll be something most people are expecting from Gaga & it's going to get a ton more promo from October to February. Harlequin is a great side project that coincides with Joker, and it does its job effectively.

And this just reminded me that we get the Bewitched song from the movie as well :cryga:

Glad people found their way to Happy Mistake - such a beautiful song. And Gaga is telling a story with this album, she’s not putting the potential hit at the beginning if it doesn’t belong there - that’s not what this record is about.

EXACTLY. It's about the art, not the streaming.

Mister G

It's art. And she's telling a story which is why Good Morning is the opening track and Happy Mistake is all the way at the end. Some of ya'll will grasp at any straw you can get your hands on and will find any and every little thing to complain about that this woman puts out. The same people complaining about streaming numbers would find more purpose focusing their energy on something productive like streaming the f***ing album if you're so worried about charts and numerical success. Spotify has Happy Mistake on their Top Hits USA playlist and the song is also on Apple Music's A-List Pop and Future Hits playlists.
