No I'm stating the obvious. She is working hard. That is clearly an indication that one aspect of her life is still functioning. One criteria for mental illness is difficulties in functioning. She may not function well in aspects I'm not aware of but in terms of work, she is still doing well.

Also I don't need her psychiatrist's note but from what the news reported, some statements are diagnostically impossible and confusing.  Any medically trained profession can confirm this.

“Major depression also occurs in the context of bipolar disorder, and patients with bipolar disorder frequently experience one or more major depressive episodes before the onset of their first hypomanic or manic symptoms.”

https://psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/appi.ajp.2021.21101042#:~:text=Major depression also occurs in,first hypomanic or manic symptoms.

So it’s very possible that this recent news is discussing how fame is a compounding factor of a pre-existing condition (bipolar II and it’s depressive component) that requires psychological counseling to address coping strategies in addition to whatever psychiatric mitigation they may have employed for the chemical imbalance.

“Someone being severely depressed while also having bipolar is diagnostically impossible” is not only a contradiction, but it’s also incredibly absurd.

well I just responded.

Just now, Shyane said:

Well, I want to be more precise. She can have a condition of "severe depression" and not a diagnosis of "severe depression." That might make sense. However, even that, I still think the "severe" part is dubious but there is no way I can know for sure because I can only see the public/work side of her life.

Here babes :ororomunroe:. Her diagnosis doesn't shield her from criticism, and most of what was being criticized about her in that thread, was valid.

Azealia Banks is bipolar too, and nobody excuses her calling Zayn Malik a racial slur, because of it. I saw a clip of Chappell Roan yesterday were she threw a tantrum on stage, and was extremely rude to a crew member, because of a minor wardrobe malfunction (that wasn't even that serious, it was just a removable skirt, that got stuck, is not like she was naked underneath).

Comparing that incident to the atrocities that have come out of Azealia Banks’ mouth is the funniest thing I have read in a minute.

Yeah, I addressed that in my updated reply:

Also: psychiatrists and psychologists absolutely diagnose conditions that have overlapping features all the time: individuals can be diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression simultaneously in spite of the fact that PTSD can often manifest as anxiety and depression.

Anyway, hopefully we’re all done playing armchair psychiatrist about a celebrity we’ve never met.

Hyperobject

the way Chappell (and Doja lol) have some gays pressed is hilarious,

just say that you’re bitter because they are not afraid of speaking up against the system they work in and give up on some opportunities in favor of their own safety, mental health and happiness.

also, Chappell doesn’t benefit from talking openly about her being diagnosed with severe depression, that will only attract even more weirdos who will disregard her experience with fame and call her an attention seeker, weak etc. she’s just being honest, like she always is.

That wardrobe malfunction video is such a nothing burger. Genuinely can’t believe people are trying to make something out of that lmao

And what exactly is the "something" people are trying to make out of it? :laughga:. I said it was rude behaviour, because it was, and it made her unlikeable to me, because it did. You're acting as if people are legitimately taking her to court for it :ladyhaha:

Is not that deep, you can publicly say you find a celebrity to be unlikeable, and you found "X" or "Y" attitude to be rude or questionable, without it meaning that you HATE them, or want them in jail :awkney:

Trying to use Justin and Katy as examples of why you don't find it necessary to show Chapell compassion is weird

Weird is you assuming that "showing compassion" in this scenario, implies finding her likeable and absolved of any possible wrong doing. Your idea of being "compassionate" towards Chappell Roan is to just not say anything negative about her.

Which is insane, lol. I'm sorry but saying that she was rude, when she was, is neither cruel, nor uncalled for. I'm not saying she should be punished, or deserves harrassment or suffering. I'm not actively taking joy in her pain or mocking her situation; THAT would be cruel, and that is something we see on this site every single day, towards celebrities whose music isn't as positively received as Chappell's.

The entire Chapell hate train rides on the fact that some random person records 10 second videos of an out of context moment hoping to go viral at an individual's expense. People are quick to jump on her and it's actually kind of sad.

There is no hate train. She is at the height of her popularity, she has arguably never been as well-liked as she is now.

A minority of people online saying that they find her personality to be off-putting, isn't hate. This notion that unless you love her, you have no compassion and you hate her, is ridiculous, lol.

There are celebrities on this website that have daily negative threads being made about them, collecting hundreds of "laughing" reactions. That would be a hate-train.

A dozen users being like: "I'm over her attitude" is not even remotely a "hate-train" :laughga:

Claiming that they weren’t trying to make something out of the wardrobe malfunction (although they were obviously using it to claim that she was rude and had a bad attitude) and then sidestepping that by claiming that it would only be “making something out of it” if people were trying to “take her to court.” Not to mention the numerous straw man arguments thrown up in response to their unprompted negativity about her going public with her diagnosis. No one said you can’t dislike her, but it certainly does feel awful callous (and somewhat maliciously motivated) to unload grievances about her in response to her going public about a mental health struggle. Pretty obviously an argument in bad faith and throwing **** against the wall to see what sticks.

I know I'm excellent, thanks 😌. I also know my blood pressure isn't affected when I read perfectly valid criticism about a celebrity on a Pop Music forum.

Which is difficult to get. Not everybody has that to their credit, some people take on the role of Chappell Roan's lawyer, for free, just for the love of clownery.

But I do hope the invisible points you're earning on this thread, further solidify the imaginary bond you have with her 🩷.

Azealia has publicly stated that her tantrums are more often than not, manic episodes. Do we cherry pick the extent of empathy when it comes to mental health now? :max:

I don't excuse Azealia's behaviour because of her diagnosis. In the same way I don't excuse Chappell's questionable behaviour, for the same reason.

Nobody is "hating" on Chappell Roan, she was rightfully criticized when acted stupid, like everyone else, some of you are too sensitive :laughga:

Yes but we've all been that person who needs an accommodation or for an exception to be made because of mental health, I think we should all be a bit more graceful rather than applying the same internet performative "i insist you take accountability!" crap

my head is filled with broken mirrors, so many I can't look away
