However LCD technology has improved significantly over the last decade, and even the last few years more so.

Wth, Nintendo noooooo. The Switch OLED has one of the best screens among handheld devices. As an OLED fanatic, let me tell you it will always be better than the best LCD there is. Honestly this is probs just to make money out of a Switch 2 OLED in the future. Like how are they ok with a predecessor console having objectively a better screen in terms of contrast than a next gen console. It’s kinda embarrassing me thinks.

Nintendo’s philosophy is to keep their consoles affordable, so any average consumer can pick it up and play.

I bet they are targeting an MSRP of no more than $399 USD. If they included an OLED screen, they’d probably have to either sell the console at a loss (or significantly less profits) or raise the price (which I’m sure they don’t wanna do either)

I don’t even mind that it looks so similar to the Switch OLED bc honestly I love the Switch, I’m ready for more. 
Hoping for backwards compatibility and a good processor. And more games of course, Switch 2 NEEDS a new Mario Kart + AC

I guess they prioritized the other features. Would have been nice to have an OLED option available from the get go for the enthusiasts but I guess that’s likely coming some time in the future.

Clearly more so a hardware upgrade, if they are able to make it like a PS5 in Switch form performance wise that would be incredible. Hope the price point isn’t crazy but these days I would imagine it will be.

No it is switch 2 

Nintendo is always walking their own lane, they apply newer technology as they see fit, so wanting them to catch up to "competitors" and having an up to date specs is pretty much a losing game
