yeah like wow

I want to be a little positive about this but it's kinda hard.

The movie was show to a big group of content creators here (Mexico). There's like 4 kind of positive reviews and everyone else is saying how terrible it is. So now the people are going with that mindset. And everyone hates the ending :rip:

Y'all... Y'all are free to feel how you feel and I'm not gonna discount that. HOWEVER try to keep in mind that

1) no matter how this shakes out, it's gonna be a win for our girl. Once it releases everywhere, there will be more reviews and the score could go up notably. If it doesn't, they're still praising her specifically and this huge production has built up her pool of colleagues that want to work with her in the future.

2) There are thousands of movies critics hate and everyone else loves. Besides, if you personally end up liking it? Then the critics are irrelevant.

3) This website is probably the biggest group of monsters congregating in one virtual place. We know her team has eyes on here; if they can't find a place that's championing her projects here, where can they go? Maybe we can just be optimistic and hope for the best without resorting to predicting doom and gloom before it even wide releases.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Well, some reviews said they wished she was utilized more. I feel like it's going to be a situation where Gaga has a huge presence throughout the film, but the character of Lee/Harley herself isn't explored as much as we would've liked or hoped. I think the assumption for many of us going into the film was that this was going to be an exploration of Harley's descent into madness, but I don't know if they'll go that route. I'm sure we'll still see her devolve, but more so as a part of Arthur's story rather than her own.

Yeah I think it seems like she’s a character *he meets and it’s not quite the 50-50 deal that the title suggests it would be. Like we thought it would be the beautiful descent together but it seems more like she’s established and crazy but obsessed with him and takes a shine to him in Arkham while he figures out if he’s joker or if joker is a character that consumes him. But fundamentally the story is his

Her review was friendly to Gaga but I know she’s hitting up a voodoo priestess later to get back at Todd for ruining the film she was most looking forward to seeing. As she should. :icant:

Review from respected Belgian newspaper De Morgen, 3/5 stars. I translated some excerpts:

"Making a sequel to a quirky monster hit like Joker, it might have been like the bad romance between Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in this musical sequel: destined to fail. Though Joker: Folie à Deux is more superfluous than bad."

"Lady Gaga surprises with a remarkably natural interpretation of the well-known DC character Harley Quinn: she plays Lee not as a total weirdo, but rather as a troubled groupie a little too eager to believe in a fantasy. Although Gaga seems to have been cast primarily for her voice, because outside of the singing scenes she gets bitterly little to do."

I must admit my excitement is pretty much gone after seeing so many people of the general audience hate the movie so much. I was already on the fence because ai dislike most musicals, but I thought the movie would have some redeeming qualities and all I’m seeing on my socials is pure hatred :(

This is the bit that's puzzling me. Some people here who have seen the movie say that she doesn't really contribute to the plot and that there is no development of her character. And yet we know that there are scenes on the cutting room floor where her character would apoear to have been transforned. So did they have a storyline in mind  where more was made of her, and then just decide to scrap it ? And if so, why ?
