To anyone still thinking about its Metacritic score:

Deadpool 3 has a 56 score and that's literally the best / funniest super hero movie I've seen in years.

I don't have to say a thing about its box-office, right?

So relax and let's enjoy the ride

as a Gaga fan i can stan her music and want her to selfishly focus on music cuz thats what shes known for. im not someone who just blindly stans everything one person does

Yes, but at the same time you’re frustrated by her career choices, which in the long term can be pointless and just going nowhere.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

The meltdowns are so unnecessary ...

The first film was divisive - personally I thought it wasn't a brilliant film, but I have to admit that it was thought provoking. It felt like an art house film ; thin dialogue, awkward but beautifully shot. But I'd take Joker any day to the shitty films Disney makes these days.

I'm actually more excited about the sequel because Todd seems to realise the mad fascination people have with violence and rage, as opposed to the sad truth of how society fails to protect the vulnerable.

This film will become a cult classic IMO and will only be appreciated with time (like Batman Returns). I'm not worried and enjoying the ride so far with DWAS, FAD and whatever else Gaga has in store in the next months

Cool. Glad to know you can take a joke :trollga:

Sis, I CAN take a joke I am just self conscious about my English and I thought the Trump syntax thing was just a too easy jab at my writing skills and I thought it was just off topic and boring. plus keep it in mind I got really upset with some half a$$ed reviews that read like they were made in 10 minutes and I was already in a bad mood because of that. So don’t take it personally I just replied defensively and sorry if it came out salty. I’ll try be cooler next time.

and I did notice it later especially at the last sentence “who cares about indie wire. real sad people.” lol it does sound a little like something Trump would say. I just really was pissed off and worrying about lashing out at some middle of the road reviews. all love to you and your sense of humor if it was not meant to look down on me.

What is this last jab? :triggered:

Some of us actually do enjoy her acting ventures. It's not blind stanning, it's called respecting and loving the person's artistic choices.

Also there's a bit of revisionist history going on, calling HoG critical and commercial flop and what not .

So just a correction -

HoG had grossed over $166 million against a $75 million budget. It more than doubled its budget. And this during the pandemic where everything was flopping left l, right and centre. It was actually the highest grossing adult drama during the pandemic.

Coming to awards season, Gaga actually got best actress nods in all the pre-cursor awards, including the SAG and the Baftas (none of the Oscar nominated actresses were in this list that year). She, unfortunately missed out on the Oscar, but getting a nod for Critics Choice, Golden Globes, SAG and Bafta is huge as well and a achievement in itself. She also got nominated from multiple critics association circles and even won a few. Most notably the New York Critics Film Association, who are quite difficulty to please.

I hope this helps. :yennefer:

Take it as you want but a friend of mine attended the premiere and told me she did amazing and actually don't understand some reviews are saying she's underused in terms of character development and acting skills. She's not on every scene but she has a big part. He also told me there's like no reason to be perched, because her fans will definitely like her in Joker.

Won't spoil but one particular scene with her is violently striking and is a movie highlight.

That's what I have heard as well, from someone who attended the premiere.

That Gaga is in almost half of the movie, she has a supporting role, but its super pivotal, like one of the main factors driving the movie, and some scenes she has blown it out of the park.

I mean I had never doubts on our Gagita's talents to begin out. :ally:

and thinking of Olivia Coleman's famous 'oh Lady Gaga'.

Even Indie Wire, who panned Todd Phillips and the film, was calling her 'a generational superstar' with 'supreme talents as a singer and all-consuming screen presence as an actress'. The quality of strong screen presence is probably the highest praise for an actor.

one thing is 'blindly stans everything', the other thing is being oblivious to the reality. :patrizia:
