LateToCult 39,497
And when she announces a big stadium tour for the summer to distract from Joker: Flop à Deux?
juicyjuicy 1,624
Honestly I’ve heard absolutely nobody talking about this film. I’ve been to the theatre a few times recently and the trailer was never shown. There’s no promo anywhere in London…

From the reviews I saw people were complaining about the story having no substance enough to continue the first movie, that + the musical moments and Gaga taking a secondary role and mostly being present in those musical I feel took back the first impressions we had with teasers, but who knows! Dejare de quererte cuando un pintor sordo pinte el sonido de un pétalo al caer en el suelo de cristal de un castillo que no existe.

The disappointing critic reviews kept the film from generating good buzz at its premiere. Essentially, people aren’t being hyped up to see this movie as much as we would’ve thought.

Brizel 593
Well the reviews have me less interested in seeing it. Hope there’s a new version down the track with it being less boring and more Gaga
Future Lovers 6,405
6 hours ago, chromaticainmyhead said: what's the matter that it's predicted to not do well? It has had some pretty disasterous pre-sales. The film was initially predicated to between $115-$145 million domestic (well over $200 million worldwide) but the pre-sales have been bad enough that the predictions have been lowered down to $70 million domestic which will be more than $20 million less than the first film. I think it's going to have a pretty soft run at the box office personally. The film has a reported budget of $200 million. In order to turn break even, it needs to make 2.5x that (because profits are split with the theaters + the cost of marketing). So in order to break even, the film needs to make $500 million at the box office. It maybe still can, but the lower the opening weekend predictions are, the less likely it is to do that because in order for a film to do that, it needs to have some fairly decent legs (meaning it needs to be able to have drops less than 65% week after week).
Monstermilo 3,557
i dont think it will do as well as the first one tbh and thats sad cuz she dedicated so much time to this.
stupidrain71 1,459
Oh well. WB really want to recreate the success of the first film box office-wise and I doubt that they'll be able to. The first one was a lightning-in-a-bottle scenario. But I hope to be proven otherwise!

ModernEcstasy 8,161
Seems as though WB want all the success from the movie, but have not put any effort into promoting it. No person that I have spoken to is even aware of its existence. The movie releases in 3 weeks! That along with the reviews are gonna kill the movie. Be prepared to be torn apart by other fan bases (including DC and possibly Marvel)

Maybe a directors cut once is released on digital? Who knows… what a mess, honestly

Everything that's come out of the marketing campaign so far is pretty standard: clips, TV spots, trailers, and posters, but I expected more tbh. I don't remember the exact article, but I recall someone at WB essentially saying that they were going to do the same level of marketing as Barbie, except instead of "turning the world pink," they'll "turn it black and white"—or something to that effect. I'd like them to do more interviews and get on more talk shows. But, Joaquin isn't that type of guy, and tbf, the marketing campaign for the first movie wasn't big and sensational. That said, adding Gaga and the musical aspects to the film inherently feels more commercial. The first movie was as "indie" as you could get for a movie called Joker, but now that this version of the character is so popular, you'd think WB would realize that and market the film accordingly. They're still kinda marketing it like it's this small project. 𝕀𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕒 𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕟𝕖𝕣, 𝕀 𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕞𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖

It’s weird because I thought studios were still screaming from the rooftops to get people back into cinemas
