Bambino 24,321
Noa Argamani, an Israeli woman freed from Hamas captivity in Gaza in June, said on Friday that her injuries were caused by an Israeli air strike during her rescue operation, not by a Hamas attack. Speaking to diplomats from G7 countries in Tokyo on Wednesday, Argamani detailed her ordeal after she was taken captive by Palestinian armed groups during the 7 October attack. However, two days later, she issued a statement on Instagram, saying that some of her remarks had been misquoted and taken out of context. Contrary to some Israeli media reports, Argamani clarified that she was not beaten or had her hair shaved by Palestinian fighters. "I cannot ignore what happened here over the past 24 hours, taking my words out of context," she wrote, referring to the Israeli media coverage of her Tokyo speech. "[Hamas members] did not hit me while I was in captivity, nor did they cut my hair; I was injured by the collapse of a wall caused by an [Israeli] Air Force pilot," she added. "As a victim of 7 October, I refuse to be victimised once again by the media." Argamani, 26, was among four Israeli captives rescued during an Israeli attack on Nuseirat and Deir al-Balah refugee camps in Gaza in June, which resulted in the deaths of at least 236 Palestinians, mostly women and children. In her testimony on Thursday, Argamani said her survival was a "miracle". "It's a miracle because I survived 7 October, and I survived this bombing and I also survived the rescue." Argamani stressed that securing the release of the remaining Israeli captives should be a top priority for her government. Her boyfriend, Avinatan Or, remains in Hamas captivity and is among 105 individuals believed to be held in Gaza, including 34 whom the Israeli military has reported as dead. "Avinatan, my boyfriend, is still there, and we need to bring them back before it's going to be too late. We don't want to lose more people than we already lost," Argamani said. Speaking to Middle East Eye after her abduction, Argamani's father prayed for peace and an end to the suffering of both the captives and the Palestinians in Gaza. "We have to stop this killing between us and them so that there can be real peace between these two countries once and for all," he said shortly after the 7 October attack. dit 46,738
A lot of captives have shared similar sentiments that they were treated "as good as it can be as a prisoner of war / captive" etc..This is obviously not to say that them even being captured is a good thing. it isa horrific and what hamas did on octboer 7 was MONSTEROUS with the torture and killings etc. But it is important to provide this nuance that she is sharing. Its not really important considering they killed these peoples families, and the only reason they kept them alive is to use them as negotiation. Hamas could easily have taken hostages without killing their family, but they intentionally did it to create terror. They could also have taken soldier and settlers as hostages, but they choose civilians and families.

I just mean it's good to not let the media speak for the hostages and lie about what they said. The crimes Hamas has already done is too big anyways so no need for the media to twist the words of the hostages who are survbivors

Emvee 8,832
Compare this to how Israelis are mad that their soldiers can’t rape Palestinian prisoners. Don’t forget that there are monsters on both sides and these fascist tendencies didn’t just appear in Israeli society overnight. Their far right has been cultivating it for a long time. Hamas already took alot of soldiers as hostages. When Hamas entered Israel with gliders, they took over alot of IDF stations, and the IDF were outnumbered by Hamas for hours. As for settlers, thats a bit harder because they are in the West Bank. But Hamas have terrorists that work with them in the West Bank who could attack settlers instead of innocent civilians living peacefully in the Kibbutz and Music Festivals. If they still insist on attacking civilians, they could have taken innocent civilians as hostages without killing their families. Just to be clear, im not saying Hamas should attack anyone, im simply showing how they had alot of other options than targeting innocent civilians and families. Terrorism is a thing in the West Bank, yes, but I don't see how Gaza, which is completely isolated from the West Bank, could use kidnapped or killed settlers in the West Bank for their own political gain. The soldiers settlers across the Gaza border are the obvious choice. Also, people who live in the Kibbutz are settlers. They are literally Zionist settler communities. Furthermore, Israel promotes living in these super dangerous communities to "hold the border" for Israel. Not saying people who live there are justifiably free game but it does complicate the black and white story we are constantly asked to swallow. As pointed out by Israeli journalists as well, Israel's decision to last minute move a festival to this border area was bizarrely negligent exactly because of this context, especially since the army knew about the likelihood of a Hamas attack in that exact area a year in advance. Some would say this is highly suspect. It's easy to blame it all on Hamas but we should also not forget that the residents of these settler communities are also blaming Israel for actively endangering them. I'm still very confused about what Hamas' initial aim was and how high the percentage of fake news from ZAKA on the ground was after the attack. It seems to be high. We know for certain that the festival was not a planned target. We know that several terrorist groups from Gaza crossed the border after initial success. We also know for certain that the IDF was aware of the likelihood of a terrorist attack specifically at the festival mere hours before it happened (and did nothing), and that they later bombed that festival as well as the trucks carrying hostages. Again, bizarre and suspect. Just saying. If we're gonna dehumanize Hamas fighters as monsters whose care for hostages is irrelevant because of their choices, we should at least do the same to the people who simultaneously allowed them to be kidnapped and also tried to bomb them while crossing the border. Neither Israel nor Hamas ultimately cares about the hostages surviving. This is an important common ground. Their monstrosity mirrors each other's. Well yeah im a Muslim Arab living in the Middle East, and my grandparents are Palestinian, so im obviously extremely anti Israel. I just did not want anyone to give Hamas any credit for being "not that bad".
