the problem is that people end up setting up lives together and getting all tangled up, obviously without thinking about the idea of breaking up

but when they do, it then becomes a long, complicated process of working out who shall end up legallying owning so-and-so items because what was once "ours" has become "mine" but the other partner may also see it as "mine" cus they also paid money toward it etc

I know that, but when you have hundreds of millions of dollars, it shouldnt be a big deal. Specially when its two reasonable people breaking up. But when you are middle class and lower, they will want their car, house, and alimony...

It depends what kind of rich person you are. Rich people who care too much about status and power will always want more money, like Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner for example. They will do anything just to get the billionaire label and have influence in the music industry. But people like Ben Affleck or Jennifer Lopez dont care much about that aslong as they have alot of money and fame (In my opinion).

In my country, rich people usually agree to these things without the court, unless there is feelings of revenge and wanting to destroy someone elses life.

This whole thing seems like a bizarre fever dream but it's all real. This is a whole new level of embarrassment for Jennifer. She made a whole lovey dovey album about this guy and splits up with his 4 months post-release (which is 4 months before the formal serving of papers). I have no doubt at this point that they were on the brink of splitting before the album even came out, she was potentially holding on as long as she could to at least make it past the album release date and waiting for 6 months after that to officially call it quits to save face. They had quietly split a month prior when she gave that cancelled tour announcement about "wanting to spend time with my family and I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't completely necessary." This only furthers the accusations of her being fake from her documentary footage. Everything is calculated and rehearsed.

This takes her tally up to 4 divorces and 2 broken engagements. I really don't know why she bothers, she's never gained anything from marriage. She's on her way to being her generation's answer to Zsa Zsa Gabor. With the whole marrying a re-kindled love, she's definitely in Elizabeth Taylor territory.
