rap has been a pretty "popular" genre for yeaaars now, a lot of pop music had very heavy trap influences mid 2010s to now, ariana grande is a great example!

the things is, pop music encompasses whatever is popular and charting and the artists you listed there charted with dance pop and r&b pop at the time
