Britney should be in the top 5 above Drake. That guy is just a hit machine but neither his music nor his public image have had anything impactful culturally and musically. Meanwhile britney's legacy on pop music and media culture is legendary, she represents the 2000's decade, but what does Drake represent in particular ?

Interesting placement for Britney but still cool. She should’ve been Top 3 but then we also have Beyoncé, Rihanna, Gaga, Taylor and I guess Drake which all have had massive years, especially recent ones. 

Britney is a pop phenomenon but the whole conservatorship ruined her life and career. I don’t think she has had a massive era since Femme Fatale and that was in 2011. Rihanna almost 9 years since her last album has managed to keep making it into the most listened artists and still dominates streaming services with no promo at all. 

Taylor and Drake are for sure the most popular and the ones with the biggest and most loyal fanbase that keeps making them pull insane numbers BUT local listeners can barely name songs by them. 

Gaga and Beyoncé do deserve to be Top 3. Global popstars with well known hits that think more about the quality of their projects.

The real question here is why are yall paying so much attention at what Billboard said? Is just another list based on what they think and no one should give a f*ck about it

Gaga is def top 5!  Even if she is number 5, that’s an amazing ranking! It would be incredible and incredibly deserved for her to be top 3, but top 5 is still amazing.

Is this only about chart success? I can see gaga getting a top3. Realistically she deserves 1, but we compromise

exactly what i was thinking when i saw we are entering top 5 and gaga still isn't ranked but they wouldn't dare

if they measure impact+charts and not only charts she realistically can take 1 because i don't know in what world artists like drake or even taylor had more impact on the 21st century than gaga from 2008 to 2013.

she was literally everywhere, my grandmother than can't even read (not kidding) knows who gaga is, she doesn't have a clue who taylor for example and sure as hell doesn't know who drake is lol 

I can understand if they are higher because of chart success even though I couldn't name more than 2 drake songs 

 

BUT if they don't rank her at all they have an agenda or something because it will be truly baffling, gaga is arguably the last mega pop star and most of the new acts are directly inspired by her, can't get much greater than that.

To those who might have missed it: This is just from 2000 until now. It's why Britney is only 6. Her 1998, 1999 years (arguably her peak) don't count for this list.
