Scary stuff. I wish Starmer would come out and say something to calm all this down, such as "I understand all sides feel strongly about their views, and we can assure the British public that all sides will be heard and we will do everything we can to calm it down, we need unity and peace at a time like this, we appreciate your cooperation" etc... as ive said in another thread I grew up around this stuff and some of the things he's been saying HAS and WILL continue to make it worse. Please, we don't need more of this. We need unity. I feel like we're turning into America from 2016 onwards. 😞

Hopefully no alcohol-fuelled racist thugs are there and it stays relatively peaceful but somehow I doubt that. But yeah Starmer needs to try and reach all sides with his words, because with such a huge amount of people attending/agreeing with these protests (thats on top of all the more far-right ones and thieves etc who are using it as an opportunity to riot), he needs to act like a leader who wants peace for the UK.

Id say we’re the same it’s just until recently racism in Britain has been more subtle. It’s only in the last 10 years it’s gotten worse because the economy and healthcare system has went to sh*t so people are scapegoating others on a massive scale now

I’m from Newcastle too, hopefully they’re around on Saturday when the worst part is probably gonna be. There’s also riots apparently going to happen around the LGBTQ+ scene this evening so we need to be careful.

What a grim day for England. I been staying indoors all day watching the protests live on TV. The street is eerily dead and most businesses are closed today but on tv it looks like the anti-racism protests are outnumbering the racists
