The voters are very rarely asked anyway, and now even those few cases have suddenly become meaningless, as the chosen person got discarded. A dangerous precedent for the future: will it become normal that prmaries will be held and winners afterwards exchanged because polls are bad? Also Harries lied about the cognitive capabilites of Biden. Harries knew if she told the truth months ago, that primaries perhaps would be repeated and then she would be just one of several candidates with a somewhat chance and not the default candidate with the highest chance. So she decided to lie to increase her own chances at the cost of her competitors and wait until primaries are over, to make sure that she has no competition within her own party. Perhaps she didn't expect Biden giving up that fast. Perhaps she anticipated him to become president again (some months ago that was feasible) and that sometime during his second term he would step back and she would automatically become the first female president in history. Furthermore, global multibillion corporations threaten Biden and withhold "donations" ( = shopping money to buy politicians who act in their interests) if not their preferrred candidate is picked. Once more it is proven, that not the people but the corporations decide the president. This time they made it more obvious than usual ... Contested conventions aren't a new thing in American Politics, it was pretty common up until the mid 80s for the convention to pick the winner through a lot of backroom deals. Its only really been since Regan that we've seen absolute domination of the primaries & caucuses. And both parties have increasingly limited the democratic elements of their nominee elections to ensure they get "suitable" candidates. Its gotten to the point I'd argue that the 2024 Presidential primaries were the least democratic there's ever been since universal franchise was introduced in the US. I agree! Meanwhile, Harris has already published a farewell address to Biden, in which she already treats him as someone of the passé, even though it's not January yet (and Biden is still president, while the Ukraine war is on-going but that seems to be in the shadows now). She's already living in the post-Biden era. Not the slightest attempt to keep Biden, instead she has already finished with him. She was his biggest supporter in the past few weeks, the idea that she's "finished" with him is just bad fan fiction. Of course it could come later, but the Dem’s need some positivity given the disastrous debate, Biden’s decision & Trumps image boost post-shooting. I’m pretty sure all 50 state chairs, half the state legislatures, almost every major party member, and $86 million in funds raised in a single day (a record) is giving them quite a bit of positivity, and demonstrating that there isn’t really any doubt or lack of confidence on the part of the party as to whether Harris can take on Trump. I would go so far as to say that based on the donations and social media response thus far, the Democratic voter base has no doubts either aside from the typical doomerists who find something to decry no matter the scenario and the Twitter leftists who pride themselves on being the most selfish people in the country. Also in regards to your other statement, Kamala was primaried as a part of this ticket. Everyone who voted for Biden as the incumbent was also voting for Harris with the knowledge that should Biden win there was a high chance he would not finish his second four years. Not to mention the actual voters have been ASKING for this. This is the first time in ages the Democrats have actually listened to and done what their constituents actually told them to do. Biden and Harris were both on the ticket, this was always a contingency. Harris going along with the campaign is being demonized now? I don't get it because had she spoken against him she would have gone AWOL but she stands with him and she's still manipulative? It doesn't make sense. If she considers his cognitive capabilites to be truly sufficient, why is she taking his position? Why is she not encouraging him to stay right now? Why was she not objecting to the "bullying campaign" against Biden by clearly stating that their statements about his cog. cap. are wrong? The first thing she did, was to accept the position as presid. cand. This is what she has been waiting for the entire time. She waited until Biden "voluntarily" (under pressure from others) resigns. Biden is alongside with Vladimir Putin the most frequent person in the media in the entire world, and there are not little observations, there's an abundance of observations (!!) for his cognitive capabilites. She tried to, but no one took her seriously ☠️ Biden has publicly refused to request medical evidence done on him to diagnose any potential diseases, the public knows he’s not getting any better, and the party faithful was losing faith. Ultimately no one cares about details about doctors making physical visits to legislation - the aging like milk drama wasn’t gonna subside She honestly played all her cards right during this drama. No notes. I respect Biden for making this difficult and brave decision to drop out over an impossible situation to rid himself of for the good of the country. Not a fan of Joe but it didn’t seem right either how he was being treated. I mean even Jimmy Fallon had skits goofing on him.
