Alberta, a province with less than 5 Million and Canadas wealthiest Province by GDP Per Capita ended the year on a $4.3B surplus despite high fire fighting costs this fire season and related damages

 

With higher oil prices, some forecast the next financial year will end in an even higher surplus (Alberta holds 97% of Canadas oil reserves and over 70% of the Countries production)

 

Alberta is using the surplus to pay down debt and saving some towards a heritage fund
