I can't see how this record is supposed to be inspired by the sounds she heard when she arrived in Miami considering hyperpop didn't actually cross-over into public conscience until the 2010s and this record is supposed to have those influences. If this were Miami bass or some other club sound then maybe it would be more believable.

Honestly, Camila is one of the most interesting artists out there. she's managed to really create a unique place for herself with music that always sounds distinctively her. i know people are comparing her to Charli XCX for this new era (and I totally get why) – but they still feel uniquely CAMILA to me. The music is more radio-friendly and catchier that Charli's tracks IMO (which is one of Camila's fortes: making catchy music people actually want to dance to without being high on meth or whatever it is people take at Charli's raves.) Honestly I hope she gets the success she deserves, these tracks sound fire.
