Oh this is about to get messy. SNL has always been political in its sketches. And since the end of last season, Colbert and now Kimmel have been censored by their respective network. NBC is the only one so far that hasn't acted on its stars to censor them. If they get even remotely political in the monologues or sketches, I bet Trump and the FCC are gonna be super vocal about it.

I'm telling you, Meyers, Fallon, and SNL are the next targets. I can very well see things escalate between now and Christmas.

They’ll definitely be targeted, the question is whether or not they cave. What’s infuriating to me about the Kimmel situation is: if ABC took the FCC to court for jawboning/extortion, they probably would’ve won given how unsubtle the Chairman of the FCC has been about his political motivations. However, given that Nexstar (a national ABC conglomerate) is on the cusp of a massive merger that would require both FCC approval and for the FCC to change it’s rules about corporate monopolies, they capitulated and offered Kimmel as a sacrificial lamb. If NBC gets targeted and fights back (which I hope they do), they almost certainly win.

Does anyone know if the Oscars are linked to the networks that removed Kimmel? They need to invite him to host next year.

They are, yeah. The broadcast rights for the Oscars belong to ABC/Disney.
