On the upside hopefully more young people will vote because of this - the idea that old people who vote conservative, who have never been conscripted, will now lord the power over the young like this is deeply enraging and is as good a motivator as any to get young people to vote.

Our country has also started to call on teens and young adults to partake in national service. Unfortunately, our only option is military service for four months each year, and luckily, I haven't been called up yet.

It baffles me how some people support this type of service, thinking that the young are too fragile and undisciplined. It will teach us nothing and would be a waste of our precious time, which we have so little of these days.
