Because the time between AP > ASIB felt like an eternity. I think what made that time such an unbearable wait was because Gaga's position in the game felt so unstable, like one wrong move and she was done for. Now we can breath with the knowledge that she isnt going anywhere, her position is cemented even if she does take half a decade+ to release new music

I believe so  Yes, it wasn't quite as dire as 13-14 I give you that.. but ASIB/Shallow really took away any doubt about Gaga's abilities which were still being questioned prior to all of that

I mean, there were entire eras in between though, it wasn't a complete desert. There was Cheek to Cheek, AHS: Hotel, Roanoke, Joanne, Superbowl, Coachella. She was still pretty respected even before A Star Is Born.

I would say out of all of those things the SB, Hotel and perhaps the SoM tribute were the only things the GP fully got behind, everything else was lukewarm. What is different now is the GP really reallllly support Gaga in a way that she didnt quite have didnt prior to ASIB - there is less doubt in terms of longevity which makes the waits more bearable imo.
