Well, she is right. According to the page whosampled:

Songs sampled by Ava Max: 12

And If you compare with other artists:

Songs sampled by Gaga: 41

Songs sampled by Beyonce: 202

Songs sampled by Taylor: 14

Diamonds and Dancefloors only has samples on two songs: Million Dollar Baby and Get Outta My Heart

She has used samples in 11 songs, 3 of which she is a featured artist. Queen of Samples is such an exaggeration. So many people just want to hate on her for whatever reason, grow up.

I think the main difference, esp when it comes to Gaga, is that a lot of artists aren’t sampling the chorus of another song and then using it as the chorus in their song lmao. That’s the reason why Ava gets **** for it. You can’t tell me the string sample in Alejandro or the bass line sample in ROM is the same thing as sampling the chorus of Wherever, Whenever and then using it as the chorus.

Others use samples creatively. She just literally recreates the same song with her own lyrics included.

Beyonce is the queen of samples, you can twist it as much as you want, but her sampling is lazy as f-ck and she’s heavily relying on them instead of creating her own sounds.

Ava’s samples are lazy and using big hits and familiar melodies from the past.

I agree lots of artists sample and lots of them do it well. I think the reason why Ava has this rep is because she has done a few lazy sampled songs in very short succession. Whatever was a lazy sample IMO. But she’s at an awkward point in her career where I feel like she is still trying to find her ‘sound’ and that may explain it. Her past few songs have been a little uninspired - hopefully she finds the sound that works for her and can get past it.

the problem is the songs where she's using a major sample are the songs being pushed as singles... it's damaging her image

SBP having no samples and being her only good song is very telling, her management are flopping at taking the nostalgic sample route

mother, what must i do?
