Israel, as it is, was created in 1948 and it's been hell for the people that lived there and their descendants since then. I think that's the relevant bit tbh.

I don't even entertain the idea of people being removed from Israel just because their ancestors were given the country in the 1940s. That's about as likely to happen as every American with white or black skin being sent "back" to the UK or Africa respectively.

Like, I'm not gonna argue one way or the other about colonialism, I don't feel that's even close to the most pressing issue related to this whole...deal.

Israel's current government and military leadership is commiting atrocities, that's problem #1 right there. In response to Israel's crimes, Jews across the world are taking heat from idiots who conflate their identity with genocide. That's problem #2.

Reaching back 3,000 years to argue over land rights and race seems so pointless to me. That discussion can be had when Israeli and Palestinian leadership sit down to discuss a final solution to this conflict.

But I also just don't fully understand arguments over land rights to begin with. Whether it's immigration or your ancestors' colonialism or whatever. Live where you do/wanna live and do it peacefully, why do we have to make up so many imaginary problems :saladga:

Yeah, of course. I completely agree, I just think it’s interesting that people feel like they need to create this separate, tangential issue (that there are no Jews indigenous to that region) when the problem is very obviously the way in which Israel was established and its government’s continuous oppression and violence against the Palestinians.

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I think many people don't understand the fact that both Palestinians and Jews have a historical connection to that land. When I watch tiktok lives, something I noticed, is that they both try to deny each other's history and ties to the land. The question is the fair appropriation of that land and peaceful co-existence. Nobody's realistically going anywhere.

It's just muddying the waters when the problem is incredibly straightforward.

God I hope Israel gets more competent leadership soon. Drag Netanyahu out by his ankles and replace him with somebody that understands you cannot squash terrorism with bigger terrorism.

I just wanted to say I agree with this.

I really don't like this nativist argument. If somebody is going to criticize Israel, there's better grounds for that, than to try to question "who was here first".

Crazy how some white Americans for example have the audacity to talk about "land back", when they'd be the first to be kicked out if we applied this principle universally.

And today we live in a day and age where people constantly move and immigrate. This concept of "purity test"as it relates to indigeniety  is so stupid.

The world is smaller now than it's ever been before and barring anybody whose family has lived in east Africa for the last 2 million years (I doubt any exist), every single person on Earth is either an immigrant or the descendant of one.

You can go back 3,000 years to a time where, according to some, Israel was solely the Jews' land. I guarantee you go back further and it was somebody else's land before that. Go back even more and there are no humans there at all.

It's such a weird debate to have when people who exist right now are in situations they absolutely shouldn't be in.

Whimsical bitch

viewing all the replies to this thread. we need to remember(like said in latest replies) that the biggest problems are the leaders, governments and enablers. hamas does not support the palestinian cause in a humane way, and the idf and the government are inhumane and constant danger to many innocent lives

i am from israel, and live in israel, the majority of israel is more humane than the government itself by a hundred times. there is a lack of youth ideology and humanity in the leadership of israel. there is also a lack of intelligence overboards, because i have seen a lot of recent antisemitic crimes (and not from republican trash sources), because of the correlation of israels crimes to jews.

The mods are always damned if we do, damned if we don't on these threads. Don't take inaction as agreement with one side or the other. I'm going to bed. Y'all have fun and try to be civil. :selena:

Unlike some of the responses I see, I think the censor on most political-tagged threads should stay and is the best thing for everyone here. Would love to see it back.

And to be fair, if people have a problem with it, then they weren't using the forum for the reason intended. It's also just a headache for mods I imagine.

Melech

i‘m shocked by some responses here. antisemitism always needs to be condemned, no matter what.

what’s also ironic is that some pro-palestinian people on US campuses are so antisemitic like why attack diaspora jews so much :rip:  do they know where they would go if things get even worse? Israel.

I agree that being pro-palestine is not antisemitic, but actions like those in the videos are and it’s also the responsibility of those group to denounce antisemitism.
