Regardless of what people think of U.S foreign policy, this is horrific to see. I never thought we'd reach this level  giving 1933 vibes

Columbia recently told students to take classes online as it can no longer guarantee the safety of the students.

This comes after many videos being shared online showing targeted harassment against Jews on American college campuses. Some even being called by name "Yehudim" (meaning Jews in Hebrew)...

I am of the belief that even if the University deems your protest unlawful and disbands it, you don't turn into a full nazi.

Let's not deflect from the topic please. The video and the caption are accurate. That's what  matters. I'm not going to immediately discredit a source simply because they're right-wing, if what they're showing is accurate. In this particular instance, they exposed antisemitism. It doesn't mean I'll agree with them on other political issues.

I think the whole conversation needs to be more nuanced. People are scared of decrying antisemitism in case others read it as a dogwhistle support of Israel's politics. Let's call a spade a spade please. Harassing Jewish people, who may or may not have anything to do with Israel personally, simply because of what their politics could be is terrifying and deserves to be criticized in the strongest terms.

This! Extreme partizanship in politics is becoming dangerous and toxic. Some ppl automatically discredit what someone says in opposing political side of the spectrum just because of who said it

 

The ever increasing mentality of "us vs them" in the political landscape will keep deteeiorating our ability to debate or have civil compromises. Once upon a time that was possible to a degree. Now its virtually dead

 

So on point, if what they say on the antisemiticstic topic is accurate, thats what matters, whether they are right winged or not is besides the point

if that's about my comment re the censor, it wasn't intended as a criticism of the mods....I just didn't want to look like a fool who doesn't know how to spell so thought it necessary to explain the misspelling

I was honestly hesitant to make this thread, but if, regardless of our disagreement on Israel-Palestine, we can't agree that harassing Jews and students is bad, then we're doomed as a community.
